East Tennessee State College has expanded greatly during Governor Brown- ing's administration. He has sponsored and secured legislation which increased the state foundation program appropriationsg increased allotments for the institutions of higher learningg increased teachers' salariesg and increased the funds for new school plant construction and facilities. The officers were elected by the students during the Spring quarter alter a hotly contested pre-voting campaign. Representatives attended a national conference of collegiate leaders during the sunnner. Plans for the academic' year were made at the Leadership Institute at Bullialo Camp on the week preceding the opening of school in the fall.
