Ex Libris Foreword We the graduates of lune I948 have concluded three of the most eventful years of our lives: years of experiences and learning which prepared us for the fubstacles and opportunities of the future. Many of us may enter into the services of our countryg others will fall into the ranks of industry: while still others will go on to receive higher education. We can all readily understand why the time we spent at East Technical High School will be -me of the most unforgetable and enjoyable periods of our lives. When we entered this school as lOB's, we were quite awed by its size and many complications, As sophomores the instructors seemed to us to be inhuman beings and we feared themg then later as juniors we felt that they came with the building and therefore had to be tolerated: and finally, as mature seniors, we found that most teachers were human and that there were very real and essential purposes for their work ' On plunging ourselves into the endless stream of activities we felt the great spirit that is East Technical High School. We inspired our football teams: cheered our swim team as it added new glories: boosted our track kings: and did everything in our power to improve our Alma Mater. Then after three very short years we were ready to graduateg we were seniors and the feeling was wonderful. There were times when graduation was merely a wordg and it seemed far distant For six semesters we studied toward our goal: then before we were aware of the fact, commencement was upon us and we faced it nervously, Our pride reached its zenith the night we received our long awaited and desired diplomas. The fruits of three years of work were climaxed when we proudly said l am a graduate of East Tech. We were saddened by the thought that our high school days were over and we said farewell to the school where we had lived, worked and played. Those much remembered years have bound us seniors together in the same brotherhood. Now as men and citizens of the world we look back to East Technical High School and the superb technical and academic education we received. And with words that come from the heart we express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for what we were given, We were taught to think as individuals and learned the meaning of good sportsmanship and its practice wherever our fortunes willed. ln parting, as our final gesture, we cordially extend our sincerest thanks to you. East Technical High School, for your many privileges and courtesies-from the lune graduating class of 1948 In Gratitude lt is with the deepest gratitude that we the members of the Annual Staff, and senior class, doff our hats to Mr. Paul Scherer, advisorg Mr. William Nardi, English advisor, and Mr. Clarence Doubler, printing instructor, without whose relentless C-fforts this publication could not have been possible. -June '48
