The Corinthian column on the cover introduces the theme which is further developed through the god. Janus. and through classical art work in each section. .lunus is the Roman deity of gates. the porter of heaven. and the source of the month of January. Since every door looks in two directions, he is commonly represented by two heads. one looking forward and one looking backward. Janus is also the god of good beginnings and good endings and thus is an appropriate deity to represent Our past and future lives. The temple of Janus in Rome was built from east to west symbolizing the he eginning and ending' of the day. e 4 Es . x4931; i We 3 cu m 4 c0 C eV; CONTENTS Seniors Administration and Faculty Student Life Sports Activities Underclassmen Senior Highlights Senior Directory 46 62 78 110 148 156 162 C SENIORS E Bess Marie Adams Carol Scott Adams Secondary Elementary Janet Anselmo David Appler Beverly Ann Ardos Elemenlary Health Education Secondary Samuel Barbose James Barniak Judy Barton Elementary Secondary Health Education J ane Albert Constance Silfies Altemose Elementary Elementary Ann Marie Argiro Donald Babb Vivian Baker Secondary H ealth Education Health Education Joan Battle Lois Ruth Baxter Carole Bean Healih Education Elementary Elementary J an Beliveau Nancy Bender Susan J ane Blanchard Health Education Elementary Elementary Kathleen Boyle Carol Bradley Paul M. The squad was typical of those coached by Mr. Gregory. The Warriors featured an exciting oifense spearheaded by Little All-Ameri- can, Toby Barkman. Jan Beliveau, a powerful fullback, was an important clog in the attack. The rugged defensive unit was led by Joe Bahnatka and Mel Fager. During the season, the Warrior fans had an opportunity to see Toby Barkman set a new Pennsylvania State College Conference career scoring record. Both Barkman and Bahnatka were named to the All-State Team, and Barkman again received Little All-American recognition. ROW ONE: S. Stewart, mgr.; T. Kanavy, D. Appler, J. Beliveau, M, Fager, D. The East Stroudsburg booters coached by John Eiler had a fine season, winning 7 games, losing 4, and tying 2. Co-Captains Paul Grube and Ken Kutler led the team, which lost only to West Chester, Elizabethtown, and Newark during the regular season. The teamts fine play earned them a bid to the N.A.I.A. national colle- giate tournament. They lost the hrst game at Frost- burg, Maryland, to Castleton, in a tournament that was not completed because of a snowstorm. Another win for the Warriors. E.S.S.C.
