Veneroso's Touchdown plus an exTra poinT and a safeTy accounTed for The J.V.'s nine poinTs. The passing combinafion of Weiler To Pasko clicked for many subsTanTial gains. The E.S.S.T.C. J.V. fooTball men, showing much improvemenf over Their previous game, lasT a close baHle To Penningfon Prep by a I3-I2 score. Weiler accounfed for one Touchdown by an 80-yard broken field run, and Geroni, flashy Muhlenberg Transfer, accounTecl for The second score. HOCKEY Wifhifhe beginning of a new sporfs year came fhe beginning of a new varsify sporf for women-fhe fasf, excifing game of field hockey. Many aspiranfs reporfed fo pracfices for several weeks, and from fhis group were chosen fiffeen girls fo journey fo Prospecl' Park in Brooklyn, N. Y., fo encounfer fhe fasf, experienced New York Universify squad. These fiffeen were capfain and goalie Kiffy Kaufmann, a senior who was safisfied because she had occasion fo defend her goal only once in fhe,enfire game-Kay Diehl, anofher senior who played a speedy game as leff wing--Alice Sampson, a Savage fransfer, leff inside-Rufh Woodhouse, also a Savage fransfer, who smashed fhrough fhe defense from her cenfer forward posifion fo fally one poinf-Anne Bukowski, a senior and righf inside, who scored fhe ofher counfer for S.T.C.-Janef Dailey, fhe speedy junior who played in righf wing posifion- Gene VanVlief, Gerda Ullrich, and Naomi Reed, respecfively junior, sophomore, and freshman halfbacks who broke up fhe offensive plays of N.Y.U., and beaufifully backed up fheir own forward line-Marion Widmayer and Laura Brown, bofh Savage frans- fers, who kepf fhe New York feam from really fhreafening ourgoal more fhan once or fwice during fhe enfire confesf. Carried as reserves fo fhis game were Norma Henning, wing-Rufh Borman, halfback-Claudia Cooke, fullback-and Olive Aansfoos, goalie. The final score was 2-0 in favor of The Zimbar eleven, which seems fo inidicafe fhaf in fhe nexf few years, under Miss Zimbar's effecfive fufelage, Sfroudsburg should develop oufsfanding feams in fhis new field. ln addifion fo 'rhese fiffeen members, fhe ofher girls who confinued fo work hard dur- ing fhe season were given an opporfunify fo see acfion in fhe game wifh our college alumnae. ln fhis baffle Kay Diehl scored fhree goals, and Anne Bukowski scored fhe fourfh counfer for fhe college, while Norma Henning, playing for fhe alumnae, scored fheir lone fally. Mildred Wood, fhe efficienf manager of fhe group, assisfed in making The season a success.
