Girl Reserves Girl Reserves are junior members of the Young Women's Christian As- sociation, which is a world-wide organization. The girls' activities are varied according to their wants and needs. One of the outstanding events on this year's calendar of activities of the Girl Reserves and their associate club, the Hi-Y, was the opening of their new recreation room, Triangle Teen Town on December ll. This semester a Board of Advisers was selected by the girls. It consists of Miss Florence Clute, chairman, Miss Catherine Howlett, Miss Florence Zahnow, Miss Dorothy Pannell, and Miss Pearl Reinheimer. Page Twenty-six

O1 Third Row: Virgil Lee Icide, Albert Dauer, Ruben Yelvington, Arthur iver. Hi-Y Club The East St. Louis Senior High School Hi-Y is one of many Hi-Y groups throughout the world. It is a branch of the Young Men's Christian Association. Bi-annually, Hi-Y Congresses are held in prominent college towns to which delegates are sent to exchange ideas and develop new methods of fulfilling the club's purpose, To create, maintain and extend throughout the school and community high standards of Christian character. This year the members of the Hi-Y Club, under the direction of Mr. R. F. Pannett, sent Iarnes Ashby and William Shopher to such a congress at Oxford, Ohio, to represent them. The Hi-Y Club is also active socially, in addition to giving the usual parties, the members cooperated in the opening of a new recreation center, Triangle Teen Town, for Hi-Y and Girl Reserve members. Each year the Hi-Y presents a bronze belt buckle to one boy in each school sport who has displayed outstanding ability, good sportsmanship and has a good scholastic record. Officers of the club are Frank Sobieralski, presidentg Ruben Yelving- ton, vice-president: Albert Dauer, secretary, and Iames Ashby, chaplain. Page Twenty sewn
