Develop- ing Old Skills This year at East Side, a new program was launched in order to help students. The Basic Skills program, which is federal and state funded, was formed in order to assist students who needed extra help in reading and mathematical skills. This program is geared toward all students who need help, regardless of their grade, and is based Mr. Scardeli. who launched the basic skills program at East Side, smiles proudly as the program continues its success. on CTBS and MBS scores. Mr. Scardeli, who launched this program, is very positive about the program's succes. He thinks if the student really wants to learn, this program will be a definite help. These classes are geared to help the individual and enable the students to work at their own pace, with the student slowly building up their own skills. The students are tested frequently and are aided with audio visual materials. As the year concludes, a student may be released from this program if they achieve a certain score above the cut-off rate. With all the dedication and hard work put into this program, it will definitely succeed. As Mr. Scardeli says. “If you think, you will survive.” Explaining the assignment.
