Bobble Strlhart. Coach Blast. John Matos. Wellington Zamora. Meriander Amorim. Jose Troche. Charlie De a! me Ida Rafael Palvas. and Jason Tomson. t's the ninth inning, the bases are loaded and the spectators anxiously await to see the outcome of another Red Raider baseball game. Every spring faithful East Siders go out to see our competent baseball team strive to accomplish an unforgettable season. Unfortuantely, this season was one of the shortest ever; twelve games were cancelled due to inclement weather and never rescheduled. Yet team members like John Marques. Angelo Sanchez. Carlos Cruz, Raynaldo Fuentes, Michael Scelfo. and Charlie De Almeida enthusiastically step up to bat ready to bring victory to East Side. The season ended with a record of 7-10. six of the losses by only one run. Every game, however, proved to be a delight to watch. Who can forget the time E.S. played against Union, one of the top teams in the state? Despite the outcome. E.S. demonstrated their best playing techniques and put up a fight till the last inning. Disappointed about the brief season but content with the results. Coach Biasi looks forward to the return of Jose Alvarado, Meriander Amorim, Frank Mernandez. Wellington Zamora and Tony Texelra. Whether it's running to catch pop-ups. driving In a run. sliding head first into base or lining another single, the baseball team does it with determination and pride. This makes any fan proud that they come out to the ball game. A perfect pitch. Richard Simons would be proud. One down, two down. 28 — Sports Baseball

$ Side High is known to have some of the teams in the city V Of Newark. Our teams have continuously won championships, broken school records. and developed some of the best sportsmen ever. We have cheered many of our undefeated teams such as baseball, soccer, and tennis. Our outstanding athletes have always brought a sense of pride and school spirit to each challenging game, and we in turn have tasted the dignity of winning It is from this experience that we learn the value of teamwork and the mean ing of sportsmanship which we will always treasure
