Clubs 51 FROM EAST SIDE TO BROADWAY Some of the actors were pacing nervously and mumbling lines while others put the finishing touches on the set. Actresses checked their makeup and others attended to costumes and props Then the director shouted. Places everyone! The movement and the ncse came to a sudden stop, the lights came on, and the curtain opened. The first of the three-one act plays was entitled The Audition is Over . A daughter was torn between her protective mother and her pushy drama teacher. It was push and pull throughout the act. The suspenseful ending left the daughter's decision to the audience's imagination. The curtain re-opened with a divorced couple in the midst of their so caned Amicable Parting. Ironically, the two continuously argued as they proceeded to divide up their belongings. The hilarious battle reached its climax as the two failed to divide up their dog, but a happy ending prevailed. The final play opened with a 40 year old army recruit, doing his best to fa l his physical and psychological tests. The comedy continued to amuse the audience, until he finally failed his tests. It ended on a more serious note This recruit reaped that he truly didn't want to faJ Rather he wanted to make a life for himself, perhaps the army was his only chance The entire show was an over all success The actors and actresses gave performances comparable to off-Broadway productions. This was the first time we had a three-day ski weekend — leaving very early in the morning — taking a picturesque five-hour trip of 250 rrtfes from New Jersey through New York to Vermont — where we reached our destination at J[ p.m. On arrival the students were treated to a coke and cneese party, then disco dancing, playrooms, swimming, sauna and whirlpool baths, and many other luxuries Their rooms had beautiful decor, such as fireplaces and refrigerators. Besides Mr. Afflitto, advisor, the party was also chaperoned by Mr. Wujiack. and Mr. Wichkowski. This trip was exceptional in that it was snowing while we were traveling to the Mountain. We had beautiful powdered snow for beginners making it easier for them to ski. The trip was marvelous. Most of the students knew how to ski. but those who did not were quickly tajght and on the second day were skiing with the veteran skiers. Everyone had a great time sking. riding the chair lifts up the Mountain, enjoying the bea jty of the snow and hav ng a lot of fun. This was our 7th annual trip to Vermont. This class as wet as other classes were involved in the annual Medieval Festival. The festival opened with a procession and introduction of the lords and kxJtes with their new names Following, was a super performance of Sir Go wain and the Green Knight. Finaly. authentic Medieval refreshments were served The costumes were true repfccos of the originals worn during this time Each individual researched the period before making their final decision on what type of dress, tunic and head gear they would recreate. The same was done with those who prepored the food.
