If action indicates something of the character and influence of the man, then Mr. Magistro was a person of whom all East Side can be proud. Since 1956, Mr. Magistro was a member of the Technical Department of East Side High School. His years of devotion, guidance, tireless commitment, and love of youth, has earned him outstanding recognition for his singular accomplishment in leading youth to knowledge and understanding. His dedication and intellectual integrity represents the highest ideals of humanity. He will be missed by many of his friends at East Side where he illuminated the finer elements of the spirit of our modem age. His love was deep, his service sincere, his work was true. Many of us who have been privileged to know Mike” will miss his vibrant, dynamic, vital spirit. His insight into what was good for East Side - critical, thoughtful, incisive, penetrating - all his sensitive probing of the currents of youth is Mr. Magistro’s tremendous and lasting contribution to East Side High School. Today, the Student Council functions as one of the most viable organizations in the entire school. For the first time in years, the student voice is heeded. Led by the action of the Student Council, a much needed addition to the school is presently being built.
