Life is filled with mony corridors permeoted with the darkness of ignoronce. However, in our years at East Side High School, we have been blessed with educators who have sown the seeds for us to reap an abundance of treasures. These treasures are our candles with which we illuminate the pathways of life, thus enabling us to bask in the glorious sunlight of knowledge, one of the greatest gifts bestowed to man. It is to the faculty, whom we are indebted for helping pave the bumpy road from adolescence to maturity, that we dedicate the Torch of 1964. Although we may never again encounter any of these wonderful people we've grown fond of, the memory of our four years of emotional and mental development, will remain with us always. To these, our true friends, we humbly say, 'Thank you. Vivian Mulligan Class of 1964 TORCH 1964 3

' 'Ask nofc wW Yowt Coutvbuj uM Do VW, Ask what You Out Do Youa County, . . . J.F.fG. JOHN F. KENNEDV 1917-1963 In Memorium: There was the sound of laughter and, in a moment, it was no more. And, so, she took a ring from her finger and placed it in his hands. There was a wit in a man neither young or old; but a wit full of an old man's wisdom and, then, in a moment it was no more. And, so she took a ring from her finger and placed it in his hands. There was a man marked with the scars of his love of country, a body active with the surge of life far from spent and, in a moment, it was no more. And, so she took a ring from her finger and placed it in his hands. There was a father with a little boy and a little girl and the joy of each other and, in a moment, it was no more. And, so she took a ring from her finger and placed it in his hands. There was a husband who asked much and gove much and, out of the giving and the asking, wove with a woman what could not be broken in life and, in a moment, it was no more. And so, she took a ring from her finger and placed it in his hands, and kissed hi n, and closed the lid of a coffin. A piece of each of us died in that moment. Yet in death he gave of himself to us. (Eulogy delivered by Senator Mansfield) 4
