And differing judgements serve but to declare. Hint truth lies somewhere, if we know but where. —Cowper DEDICATION ive hundred years ago, men began to turn their eyes to new worlds. They were imbued with a spirit of Renaissance and wonder. Their search for truth and knowledge led them into strange new paths. There was a new awakening concerning the world around them. New advances were made in the fields of science, mathematics, physics, art, culture and government. There was a new desire on the part of individuals to improve their position as human beings in a changing world. Today we are again experiencing a movement by men to search out truth and to discover new worlds. A tremendous world of knowledge waits for us in the yet unexplored reaches of outer space. We are today on the threshold of many new and remarkable discoveries and experiences. We must dedicate ourselves to the continuing search for truth, knowledge, and the improvement of man’s earthly condition, and to the exploration of other worlds. We must constantly strive for peace, in order to be able to complete the many tasks which lie ahead of us. It is to this struggle that we dedicate ourselves and this book. 5
