Honorin Uur Man 0 Our Man of the Year, judge Albert V. D'Amato, was graduated from East Rutherford High School in 1926. From this auspicious be- ginning he continued his formal education at New York University in preparation for the le- gal profession, receiving his B.A. and -I.D. degrees. Admitted to the Bar in 1933, judge D'Amato began his law practice with offices in East Rutherford. Having no illusions that dis- tant places offer greater rewards and oppor- tunities for service, he participated in local gov- ernment as borough attorney and later as ma- gistrate, which assignment he presently holds. Our counselor has been most effective in dispensing justice on the local level, tempering his decisions with tolerance, understanding, and firmness. He believes in 'imaking the punish- ment fit the crimeu. The greatest satisfaction in his work, he says, comes from the opportun- ities to counsel with those brought before him in helping to work out possible solutions for their problems. Mr. and Mrs. D'Amato are the parents of six children, which domestic background serves him well in understanding the problems of youth and family relationship. The tender spot in his personality is a con- tinuous aifection for his old alma mater, East Rutherford High School, evidenced by his hob- by of keeping a scrapbook of the school ac- tivities over a period of many years. VVe salute our illustrious alumnus and wel- come him to an honored niche in our Hall of Memoriesv.
