D'Amato, was graduated from East Rutherford High School in 1926. From this auspicious be- ginning he continued his formal education at New York University in preparation for the le- gal profession, receiving his B.A. and -I.D. degrees. Admitted to the Bar in 1933, judge D'Amato began his law practice with offices in East Rutherford. Having no illusions that dis- tant places offer greater rewards and oppor- tunities for service, he participated in local gov- ernment as borough attorney and later as ma- gistrate, which assignment he presently holds. Our counselor has been most effective in dispensing justice on the local level, tempering his decisions with tolerance, understanding, and firmness. He believes in 'imaking the punish- ment fit the crimeu. The greatest satisfaction in his work, he says, comes from the opportun- ities to counsel with those brought before him in helping to work out possible solutions for their problems. Mr. and Mrs. D'Amato are the parents of six children, which domestic background serves him well in understanding the problems of youth and family relationship. The tender spot in his personality is a con- tinuous aifection for his old alma mater, East Rutherford High School, evidenced by his hob- by of keeping a scrapbook of the school ac- tivities over a period of many years. J. vb And Never Been Kissed Ably directed by Nliss Nlerlo, this delightful comedy about teenage Flory Patterson proved to be a terrific success. Flory is nearly sweet sixteen and has never been kissed-but not for lack of trying. Through a series of hilarious schemes Flory devotes all her energy to making herself vivacious and dev- astatinglv attractive. The play highlighted some wildly humorous scenes in drawing parallels between the flap- pcru of the ,:20's and todavs bobby soxer. Lewellen, who plays Flory, was ably assist- ed by D. Hembisz as her matter-of-fact sister, B. Tuella as her understanding mother, and a procession of others: D. Peitrowicz as the con- temptuous Charles, XY. Lockwood as the dis- tant Douglas, E. Pastula as the divine Philip, Y. Preli as Flory's best friend, R. Greene as the studious Gilmore, C. Huha as the laughable Mr. Peabodv, S. Alexander as Mavyls best friend, Pickering as the dominecring Christine, and B. Lorence as the agreeable Certrude. li, Hare you got u niutzrh, big boy? . The' play is concerned with a Mennonite family living in Pennsylvania during the 19403. Papa is a tyrannical man who controls his family with an iron hand. XVhen Iake, Emma, and Mama rehel against Papa, the results are disas- trous. But the gentle and whimsical nature of the God-fearing Mennonites gives this play ir light-hearted air in every act.
