Here comes never-on-time Fecanin with porter, Sheiblin, hustling the luggage. At last we're ready to take off from Atomic Field, designed by Kopecg as we do so, hostess Babcock is doing everything possible to make us comfortable. Looking around at our fellow passengers, we see Reggie and Eddie, the honeymooners. Who are the men behind the long beards? Why, it's Barone, Locarro, and Murphy with an overdose of S o'clock shadow! The other seats are occupied by vacationers Ateniese, Anzelmo, Clauss, Gengo, and G. Kilian, who from time to time purchase apples and candy from vendors G. Cunningham and Cebulski, who certainly are succeeding! ZOOOOOOM! What was that? It's irresistible Cheval still chasing the girls-with Killer Lo Re giving him close competition. That racket we hear is none other than Vito standing on hot air, manufactured by Trebing, still trying to fix a flat on his old rig. Sit- ting leisurely in the back seat are Molan, Kraska, Posluszny, De Gaetano, and Zdankowski. As we approach the outskirts of Mars, we catch a glimpse of Cohn trying to get a drink out of the big dipper. She is slightly splashed by one of Lefty Lombardo's homers!! Flying at low altitude, we see the ultra-modern diner of joan and Bunzy's, with Hobin and Giuri serving Worischeck's Dehydrated Steaks to Wiacek, Kirk, Hediger, and Miller. On a corner we see Lockwood, Hicswa, Cammarota, Vander Vliet, and Stiles thumbing a ride to Pluto where, they have learned, the armed forces have landed. Stopping at Walter's famous night club, the Heavenly Body , featuring Van's orchestra with Lo Presti and Reinhardt at the pianos, and the 3 C's, Cimler, Carroll, and Costa, singing a medley of tunes written by Brett and Bradley. As Jantzen, the headwaiter, leads us to our table, we notice Jo and Jack still holding hands. We give our orders to waitreses J. Cunningham, Coldeway, Primiano, and Demetrofsky. After dinner, we continue our journey to the moon. Whizzing past us in their helicopter are Gajdos, Subda, Kondel, and C. Daniels still riding around. As we near the landing field on the moon, we fly over Bainer's Institute of Learning , with Headman, Bennato, Gervens, Contreras, and Mazza making up the faculty. After landing, we decide to tour such points of interest as, McAlpine's Manor , Russomanno's Horse Hospital , and Frey's Cooler , in which Ballare, F. Daniels, Franzella, and Sciarra are house-guests. In Krawczyk's Celestial News office, we find fashion editor Gesualdi, gossip editor Eig, and Slyz with her Advice to the Lovelorn . In Gales' Park, we see Bassett pushing a baby carriage and Sanderson waiting on the bench for Watrel, who is still trying for his M.D. Leaving the park, we pass the famous statute of Sintel, who discovered where the light goes when you close the refrigerator door. Feeding the pigeons a little distance away are Walther and Villa Qstill togetherj. To our surprise we discover that the man in the moon is none other than Smolinski, who hires Steepy, Purner, Mazzucca, Leuang, and Grossman to design his cream cheese trees. fConfinued on page 282 Page twenty seven Our excursion over, we turn our rocket-ship toward home and find that Cathey, Pryzwara, Lokes, and Janeczko are added to our passenger list. While speeding toward earth, we see Gureski trying to take a bite out of the milky way, gaining moral support from Henninger. We are held up for a few minutes by a military parade, among which are Barcewski, Brune, Trotter, and Walsh. Leading the band is majorette Silvan. Zito is pushing the piano on which von Wallmenich plays Minutola's March . Merandino is accompanying her on the drum which Bowen is carrying for him. After a rather bumpy landing, we see Le Grand's Emergency Squad riding up to us to see if we're all okay. Albers pours us a glass of water because after all, we are a bit shaken up. Leive tries a little unnecessary first aid on Vion whose oppositions are drowned by Ramoth who is calling the signals for the next rocket preparing to take off. Upon further investigation, we find it consists of Docimo, Glembocky, Jones, Konefal, Pandolfi, Stoifa, and Venturini who are taking off to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Now, all set to go home, we hail a Stratoliner. To our surprise we find the hackie to be Schreib. Of course, we always take the indirect Way home to stop at Holmes' Health Ray Shop for a few of the Filippelli's super deluxe vitamin rays which cost only a few atoms. Here we find Tabisz still undecided as to who it shall be . As we leave we find Kilian, Meinecke, Mooney, and Smalz sitting in a plasco complex, collapsible booth dis- cussing good old '46. Before we know it, we're home only to discover we've left Slupicki, Scherer, and Plosia on the gas rings of Saturn. Our next game was a fast and furious battle with the Alumni in which we were defeated by a mere point. ln our next two games we chalked up two impressive victories at Lodi's expense to the tune of 44-33 and 34-26. CAPTAIN JOHN SUBDA A TOUGH FIGHT Losing to our next two opponents, Eastside and Passaic, proved disappointing, but not dis- couraging. We next faced Central with high hopes which were fulialled by our trouncing the Colts. Although losing our next seven games to Eastside, Passaic, Central, and experiencing double losses to Clifton and Garfield, the team was never disheartened or truly discouraged and displayed the true spirit of sportsmen. The Pat- erson Armory was the scene of this year's -lam- boree tilts, in which we opposed Garheld and were beaten. f'C!1l1fflIIlf'll on page 472 s I However, the season ended in a brighter light, when our boys won a decisive victory over the Trenton School for the Deaf. The last East Rutherford championship team was that of 1933. An enthusiastic squad was on hand to greet Coaches Mahon and Fittipaldi on the Hrst day of practice. The season was off to a flying start when, after only a week of formal practice, we defeated the highly favored Passaic team 28-14. Our next game was played under lights against Paterson Cen- tral, whom we conquered by the impressive score of 28-6. It gave us quite a thrill to have our team win our first two games, because they were Conference games. The game against Garheld was one of thrills and excitement. for Garfield is a long-time rival of East Rutherford, 'as well as .1 Conference team. Through most of the second half the score was 6-6 until the last six minutes, when the Wildczlts made another touchdown and the extra point to win the game by the Hnal score of 13-6. CAPTAIN STEVE BARONE Though not so impressive as the preceding games, the Lyndhurst tussle was also a victory for us-we tallied 21-0. Page fffy-fwo KICK IT HIGH i, The Clifton game, an important Conference one, ended in a 6-6 deadlock, in which the Wild- Cats played a good defensive game and held back the opposing team on the one yard line during the fourth quarter. We ended our triumphal season by swamping Paterson Eastside 36-0, and subduing Lodi 38-0. Although Subda and Kondel received due recognition for their outstanding ability dis- played on the gridiron, we n1uSt remember that it was not without the cooperation of the entire team. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THAT MAN The victorious Wildcats were honored by a football dinner. Later they were presented with gold footballs, on which was engraved the name of the playerg the letters P.V.C. Q 4 V These high strutting girls with their twirling batons, were a picturesque sight out in front of our band. We all looked forward to the halves between football games, for we enjoyed seeing the majorettes perform. Hours of patient and constant practice were evident in their many different formations and routines. Under the able and guiding direction of Miss Sarro, adviser, and Ida Silvan, captain, the majorettes were a group of which we were proud. The maiorettes again came up to expectations by sponsoring one of the hits of the year, their barn dance, which was indeed a sueeess. ,Q 6 .NI.1irm'lli'i: l. laima, M. Nlarinarog R. l'apag li. They sponsored a dance and numerous pep rallies which helped build school spirit and morale. Declted out in their new XVildcat sweaters, they showed our colors and were a symbol of the school spirit that backed our team. N- -lf' ev Nia YITEAM Gaawbuf The 1945 Cross Country Team under the supervision of Mr. O,Neal turned in a rather fair season despite the loss of some dependable harriers. Our season opened victoriously in a meet with Irvington. The results were Irvington 30, East Rutherford 25. The East Rutherford harriers next placed second in a triangular meet with Rutherford and Paterson Eastside. Although the Maroon and Gray were overtrodden in their next meets with Seton Hall, St. Michaels, Pater- CAPTAIN EDVVARD KIANECZKO son Eastside and Kearney, Janeczko, Seifirt or Roettger placed well in each meet. The sting of our defeats was lessened, however, when we underscored our staunch rival, Rutherford, 24-31. While we placed only third in a con- ference meet with Passaic and Paterson East- side, these less honored heroes will continue to gain renown and glory for their prowess. The lettermen are: K.
