CU O pee as Aw nuit What happens when a student arrives at East? Perhaps a first im- pression might be all work and no play. However, becoming a part of East offers the opportunity to combine the challenges and fun that are high school. Team work is necessary to make this combina- tion successful. Many students worked together through athletics and clubs, to give East Rutherford a long-awaited ‘“‘face lift.” Their enthusiasm revised the definition of Cavalier Pride. ps 4 Introduction ee 4 pe eu Paice There Is Sorrow In Your Life ... Ease The Pain Away There Is Joy In Your Life ... Feel It, Know It, Share It. As the year progresses, students encounter such disappointments as athletic defeats, report cards, broken relationships, and the dread of leaving some friends behind. These disappointments are balanced by successfully completing difficult tasks, assignments and projects and establishing lasting friendships. These sorrows and joys weave new beginnings from broken ends. There Are Goals In Your Life ... Strive For The Highest. ee a 6 Introduction There Is Purpose In Your Life ... Explore It The goals set in high school may be the basis for future achieve- ments. Some goals such as striving for an excellent grade, run- ning for an office in Student Government or a club, getting the job you want, finding the perfect mate, or perhaps just doing your best in your endeavors, are the ones that shape your accomplish- ments of tomorrow. Never settle for any thing less than your maximum potential because inside you there is a major goal waiting to be reached. Hob Introduction 7 And The Mr. Lancer Nominees Are .. . Seniors, | congratulate you for your determination, dedication, and endurance for the past twelve years which have enabled you to graduate from East Ruther- ford High School. | have enjoyed being your Principal; it has been a pleasure. The long and hard search for the many missing children of America started with many T.V. commer- cials, advertising, etc. Then the music celebrities got into the swing of things by providing aid for the starving people in Africa and for the many suffering farmers of our own country. Halley's comet was also a topic of interest to our society. President Reagan made some headway during the summit talks with Gorachev, while back in New York Lady Liberty is on her way to ressurrection. Meanwhile, in the small world of Rutherford county, the county championship trophy was on our minds. The chance to recover what we deserved was taken advantage of by our fighting football players. In the political view of our school, the new female president seemed to keep things in order. Now that 1985 is over, there are many new and exciting experiences to encoun- ter in 1986. But the 1986 Lancer is more than a collection of recap- tured moments — it focuses on the stars of East Ruther- ford, the students. This book has been prepared by a dedicated group of Cavaliers that worked long and hard to produce a yearbook worthy of the students who pur- chased it. In my (unbiased) opinion, | think they succeed and all the credit goes to those twenty-six people. Howev- er, Mrs. Joy Cromer, Mr. Hamrick, Mr. Gay, Mr. Theede, Luck’s Photo, and The Daily Courier deserve a big hand also. This book was created by you, for you so! hope you enjoy it.
