Maiden Principal Robert Par Assistant Principal Edward Crowley Assistant Principal Gerald Honig June, 1985 Dear Graduates, The Class of 1985 leaves East Rockaway High School a rich collection of pleasant memories. While many of these memories relate to individual students and their maturing from 7th graders to seniors, other memories relate to the class as a group. Your class has established a new tradition for other classes to follow. The highly successful Halloween Parties for the young children of East Rockaway was a model of community service. The Rock Rivalry Entrances of your Sophomore and Junior years brought that entertainment form to the highest level I have witnessed at East Rockaway High School. Your class demonstrated the ability to pull together and produce quality work on the stage. The richest memories you leave behind are those of individual students, maturing into responsible, caring young adults as your teachers and parents take a measure of pride for their contributions to your development. As you sign each other's yearbooks, make note of the positive contributions each student has made to the class. Comment on the successes — academic, athletic, musical, journalistic — that person has had some share in creating. You are always welcome to return to East Rockaway High School as you go forward with your lives. Your teachers have invested much of themselves in your development and they look forward to sharing in your success and happiness. The Class of 1985 lakes with them our very best wishes. Sincerely, Robert Parry 4 Principal '

We, the young, often find ourselves trapped in the darkness of too much fantasy. We run from dead end to dead end, through a maze of false-truths, blindly seeking light only to find tricks and illusions. We often think of teachers as part of this maze, giving long laborious piles of work, all giving us all a terrible picture of a dark mysterious tunnel ... lined with horrible, horrible books. We do not always realize, though, that these teachers are, in reality, our windows to the world. They are the sages, the philosophers, and perhaps they can even be considered prophets foretelling the future of the world to come — a world slowly slipping into our hands.
