A ll- Tournament Gay Mahan A ll- City Cindy Strauss berger The Pioneerette team will remember for many years their 1963-1969 season. It was a season not only to remember but one worth telling about. The highlight of the season came in the game against Ooltewah in a battle that ended in 16 overtimes. Playing 16 overtimes 214 hour marathonj before defeating the Owlettes, was as much excitement and suspense as the fans Could ask for, but it was even more tense and exciting for the team and Coach Neely, since none of the players had ever played in an overtime, nor had Mrs. Neely ever coached one before. But like true Pioneers they never gave up. It was indeed a sweet victory for East Ridge. The thrill of it alli' had not ceased when a call eame from Sports Illustrated, informing the team that the 16 overtimes would get national recognition in the February issue. The regular season got off to a slow start with three losses, but the team bounced back and won the next six. With Cindy Straussberger leading the team in scoring, they finished the season with a reeord of 14 wins and 10 losses. Cay Mahan - All Tournament w.
