0LN£AN-“$3” EAST RICHLAND HIGH SCHOOL 1100-1200 £. LAUREL OLNEY, ILLINOIS UOLUME 58 £ Of COI SENIORS 1 JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN FACULTY ACTIUITIES CLUBS SPORTS 130 ADUERTISEMENTS ISO INDEX 240 Editors’ Note f cridUj Hoyt± co-editors With this annual, the 1983 Olnean, our theme being “A Different Year,” we have tried to capture the interesting aspects of life at good oP ERHS. We feel that the pictures which we have chosen are the most revealing, and the stories show how this year is different. If you enjoy reading the Olnean, putting it together gives us just as much pleasure. In addition to all the traditional clubs and mugs we feel compelled to include, we have dreamed up some playful pages: a school map, Rate-A-Date, Olnean Rejects, and First Date. As a gift to the freshmen, who shall carry on long after we upper- classmen have departed, we have made their pages a special color, so as to distinguish them from the rest of the book. Each day this year, at precisely 10:30 a.m. (or shortly thereafter) our staff tripped into Room 207; we editors would like to thank them for their toil and especially for their reminding us of all the errands that needed to be run uptown. We also tip our hats in appreciation to the following: Mr. Dave Shafer for all his advice and his unique sense of humor. Mrs. Mildred Richardson and the Tiger Rag staff for pictures, information, and advice. Mr. David Allen for the time he gave and for his tying our many ideas together securely with a theme. ERHS faculty and personnel for putting up with class interrup- tions by “hall-roamers” getting quotes. Valerie Dreiman and Cindy Yonaka for staying in to type day after day and giving up free time four weeks into the summer to wrap up this book. Terri Shafer for taking care of us through our late- night workathons; Kyle Shafer for entertaining us just by being his cute little self. The office secretaries, especially Sherry Harrison for tolerating our constant questions like: “Haven’t those funds been transferred yet?” Mark Bouffard, Kim Sorensen, and Eric Sorensen for helping us record this year on film. Mr. Ron Monsen for taking Pow Wow pictures, without him that night we would have been in a real plight. Our division page models, in particular Ross Kirk who willingly went all over town trying on women's clothes for the activities page, and the coaches who proved to us that they can still fit in high school uni- forms. Olnean alumnae Lea Ann Burgener and Kathy Sor- ensen for advice; we benefited from their experience. Olney Daily Mail for giving us pictures. ERHS students, for without whom there would be no yearbook. Everything now seems to fall into place. Hours spent planning this book are past. Pictures have been chosen. Layouts fought over and revised have been copied and recopied. Stories written and shipped will soon be proofread. As we write this, the book is nearly finished. We hope you will savor it and save it, find it full of the memories we all share — of words to re- member and images that will be the touchstones of 1982-83, the year that just was. “Being Olnean editors brings out the monkey in us!” — Kathy Keyth Elizabeth Brauer A Different Year In The News ... For The 1983 Pow Wow Variety Show “If you miss this show, you’ll hate yourself for the rest of your life.” Such prophetic words were spoken by the di- rector of the 1988 Pow Wow Variety Show, Mr. Griesemer, just a few weeks before the Saturday, Feb. 26 show. Cur- tain time was 7.-00 P.M., and the capacity crowd which filled the dassatorium found his words to be true as they wit- nessed a most outstanding performance. The traditional event was hosted for the first time by two female MCs, Lynette Stencel and Elizabeth Brauer. Though not taking the words “break a leg” liter- ally, Lynette did nearly lose her voice the day of the show; however, Elizabeth and Lynette performed like troupers, head- ing the old adage, “the show must go on!” “What the heck is (oins on?” — Na- than Napier Quit while you’re a head” — Mr. Griesemer I like the real thing better.” — Phil Martin Being Cecilia’s bodyguard, I must protect her from her raging fans.” — Deb Travers • , m “I know he’s in there; maybe if I keep trying, something will come out.” — Derek Sullivan “Boy, Phil Martin sure is tall!” — Brad Potter “See that handsome blond in the third row?!?I think he’s winkin’ at me. The theme for this year’s dance was “We’ve got Tonight” with music provided by the “Grinder’s Wheel”. Coronation started the dance off. In choosing the candidates, each class selected two boys and two girls to represent them; then the entire student body voted for their choices as Pow Wow King and Queen. Last year’s royalty, Becky Mewes and Mike Schrey, were there to crown Senior Chris Hortin and Junior Lori Zuber. This year was the first in many years that two seniors didn't re- ceive queen and king. The new royalty and their court danced the traditional dance while the band played “The Rose”. After the excitement of corona- tion, there was an evening full of music and dancing. The dance couldn’t be complete without tearing down all of the streamers the student council spent hours putting up. It was all in fun though, and made the dance more exciting. What an evening! You’ve got to be kidding!” — Lori Zuber “What a time for jock itch!” — Chris Horton Seniors Chris Hortin and Nancy Etson 1983 Pow Wow King and Queen CHRISTOPHER HORTIN AND LORIZUBER Freshmen Jeff Gammon and Mary Berger Freshmen David Smith and Staci Cline Sophomores Jeff Wagner and Cindy Kesler with St. Council President Mike Lacey Juniors Phil Martin and Jane Jennings Seniors Jim Schnepper and Mary Birch Juniors Shannon Harrison and Lori Zuber 101 “Magical Moments” Make Prom 1983 The 1983 Junior-Senior Prom was Friday, April 15. Approxi- mately 140 couples attended the festivities. The theme for Prom was “A Magical Moment.” This year’s Prom colors were blue and silver. In the middle of the floor was a carousel decorated in blue and sil- ver. There was a large castle on the stage to compliment the theme, along with a castle on each table. The pictures were taken by 102 Propes Photography, with a beau- tiful background which consisted of a white bridge to the left, with a river flowing underneath. The backdrop featured a castle with a winding road. The band Good Feelings pro- vided easy listening music which brought many of the couples out onto the dance floor. The sopho- more attendants escorted the cou- ples to their tables, and served cake and punch throughout the dance. The attendants were surprised when they had to escort in a lady, dressed as a clown, bringing in two balloon bouquets which ad- ded a little extra surprise to two young men who were the guinea pigs of the joke. They received a round of applause from the other young couples, who were watch- ing this “singing clown.” For those who still wanted to dance when Prom was over, After-Prom began at 1 A.M., fea- turing Freddie McFall; it was held at the Fireside. After-Prom concluded at 5 A.M. ending a very exciting night. No, it’s not a ball in the 1800's. No, I’m not Mary Poppins. The Girls Tennis Team ended with an excellent record: 6-0 in conference and 10-2 overall with the only losses coming against Cen- tralia. The team tied for the NEC championship with Flora and placed second out of nine teams at sectionals. Two doubles teams, consisting of Susan Wright and Sunny Er- bacher, Anu Natarajan and Julie Read took first and second place at sectionals, and proceeded to play in the state tournament held at Arlington Heights. The team will be losing four outstanding seniors: Valerie Dreiman, Susan Wright, Mary Birch, and Nancy Etson. Coach Almaraz feels that this will be a definite loss to the squad next year. Helped by the addition of several players, the team had a good, strong base line game. Many of the girls played in tournaments this summer which gave them the experience to play in competition. This helped a lot when the team played in NEC and sectionals. Valerie Dreiman one of the tope six players, plans to go to Eastern Illinois University after graduating from ERHS. One of her most memorable moments on the team was “toilet papering the bus and harrassing people at the restaurants we ate at after the matches. Nancy Etson, another top six player, plans to go to the University of Missouri. Her most memorable moment was “playing doubles with Sunny. Mary Birch, another top six player, plans to go to Western Ken- tucky. Her most memorable moment was “the time when Nancy and I beat Patsy and her doubles partner 10-2.” Coach Almaraz says that she can t be disappointed with this year s team and next year's outlook is very promising! “My favorite pastime on a hot summer's day: smashing defenseless flies in midflight.” — Cindy Kesler 140 “I’m gonna slam this one right down her throat.” — Kelly O’Dell “Oh no, spare me; not Valerie’s laugh again!' — Mary Birch “Do you like my new hairstyle?” — Susan Wright “I’ll get rid of these bees yet!” — Nancy Etson Tiger Linksters Mark Bunting, Scott Salmon, Jeff Bing, Chris Buss, Greg Spillman, Stefan Lauer, Kevin Dallmeir. Coach Forsyth thinks the team has a lot of promise for the upcoming years. Four people were sent to the IHSA Region- al in Mt. Vernon at Green Hills Country Club for more experience. We should be able to win the NEC in a few years,” says Scott Salmon. All members are underclassmen except for Stefan Lauer, the foreign exchange student from Germany. Just before we got off the bus,” said Chris Buss, Mr. Forsyth would tell us to just get out there and do our best, take our time and concentrate on hitting that ball. Easier said than done!” Although the team's record didn't show many victories, the members felt that all in all they had a lot of fun. Girls Volleyball VARSITY: Front row: Cqnnie Hammond, Lisa Cummins; second row: Sharon Hahn, Lisa Brooks, Gwin Stewart, Linda Resor; back row: Reta Ledeker, Terri Ratcliffe, Rhonda Lathrop, Allison Doan, Patty Stoltz. 144 “Just a little higher Allison, and you’ll be the first lady to touch the moon.” — Sharon Hahn. Season number three for the girls volleyball team showed some improvement over last year’s team. The var- isty record was 6-17 and the J.V. were 7-12. Varsity Coach Becky Sheppard said, ‘T feel that the team was better than what their record showed. There were a lot of close games.” She also said that it is really hard to build a team when there is no Middle School team. Mrs. Sheppard feels that next year will be a better year. The team will only lose four seniors: Allison Doan, Terri Ratcliffe, Rhonda Lathrop, and Patty Stoltz. There will be many returning lettermen that will have two or three years experience. Returning lettermen for next year will be Linda Resor, Lisa Cummins, Rita Ledeker, Gwin Stewart, Connie Hammond, and Lisa Brooks. Senior Rhonda Lathrop received four out of five team awards. The statistics showed she served the most points, was the best spiker, and setter. Rhonda was also voted the most valuable player by the team. Lisa Brooks received the award for the most improved player. Miss Von Gregg, the junior varsity coah, and ten varsity players attended the Illinois High School Association girls volleyball state finals held in Springfield. This trip gave the girls a chance to watch some of the best teams in the state play. “I am helping the wounded off the battle ground. Patty Stoltz 'I wonder if I can see over the top of the net.” — Rhonda Lathrop JV: Jana Hiclu, Susan Clow, Tiffany Jones, Mary Beth Zuber, Terri Cook, Julie Viera, Kathy Miller, Lori Wekmeister, Sheryl Talley, Con- nie Murphy, Donna Long, Sandra Dowty, Carol Bromm, Kendra Meente- meyer, Lisa Lemke, Mona Kocher, Maria Dietrich, Denise Stencel. Tiger Harriers Coach Miller, Shannon Hough, Jeff Militello, Jerry Lyon, Neal Gassmann, Frank Gassmann, Pat Murray, Tim Sager, Steve Wooldridge, Pete Hoover, Jeff Roth, Billy Page, Coach Herrin. Come on Frank!” — Coach Herrin 146 As usual, the cross-country team had an excellent season. They ran their way over hill and dale to an 8-3 record in dual and triangular meets and captured 2nd in the N.E.C. and 3rd in the Benton Invitational. The team is to be congratulated for their very respectable season. Although most people thought the team's performance was exceptional, the team was somewhat disappointed. “The competition was greatly improved. Ideal- ly, we should be the power in the N.E.C. next year, but a person never knows,” said Coach Larry Miller. Seniors Jeff Roth and Frank Gassmann both had a lot of fun. Frank “would like to have run bet- ter.” Jeff “was a little disappointed with the results of the season.” The team looked to have a good thing going, but things just did not come together. On a whole the team’s times were considerably better than last year’s, but the results were not as good. While losing two of the conference’s top runners, Frank Gassmann and Jeff Roth, 4th and 7th respectively in the N.E.C.. the team returns Frank’s brother, Neal, and Shannon Hough, two sophomores who should be in hot contention for the N.E.C. title next year. Also returning are juniors Pat Murray, Jerry Lyon, and Steve Wool- dridge, who will be counted on for team leadership and consistency. Next year’s team should be one to watch, but for now let us be proud of the fine group of young men who worked so hard to represent our school so well. The “team of destiny , so dubbed by Head Coach Mike Wilson, consistently dominated second half action throughout the year to capture the North Egypt Conference championship with an NEC record of 7-0. The Tiger team of '82 proved to be the best ever in the history of our school, finishing a fine 9-2 season in the semi-finals of the class 4-A IHSA state playoffs. The team's captains — Dennis Harlan, Mike Lacey, and Mike Levitt — proved to be three outstanding leaders. “Bubba Harlan earned All-NEC honors and was selected to the All- Southern Illinois team. Mike Lacey and Mike Levitt were both chosen for both the offensive and defensive teams of All-NEC. Levitt, fondly known as “Big L, received the high honor of being selected as an All-State Tackle. But don't think for a minute that our captains were only Tiger standouts — joining their cap- tains in “rounding out the All-NEC team were seniors Jim Ballard, placekicker; Mike Kapper, punter; Ross Kirk, running back; and junior Greg Kermicle, defensive back. Ross joined Dennis on the All-South team; and our third year varsity quarterback. Mike Wagner, re- ceived honorable mention in the NEC, and was selected as the QB for the All-Central Illinois team. Football '82 was also very different due to out- standing coaching. In only his third year at the helm. Head Coach Mike Wilson was chosen NEC “Coach of the Year for the second time. Wilson told us: “It was easy with the people I had to coach and the great assistant coach I had. Honored with a parade and awards ceremony on “Mike Wilson Day,” (which coincidentally was voted one of the seniors' top eight holidays), Mike Wilson was the pride of ERHS, Olney, and the NEC as he was recognized as the “Southern Illinois Coach of the Year. Coach David Car- mody was. according to Wilson, “without ques- tion, the best defensive coach in southern Illi- nois. Coach Jeff Phad. known as “Iron Man, during the season gave the pigskinners their nickname. “Iron Men, and theme song. The highlight of the year was the conference game that clinched our NEC championship — the Mt. Carmel game. In the most exciting, emo- tional win of the season, Olney shut out the Golden Aces 30-0. Radio reports said the Aces hadn't lost an NEC game since 1978, and hadn't been shut out since “before the war (?). Quar- terback Mike Wagner summed up every senior's feelings when, on the radio, he said he'd “lost to them every year since the 7th grade, but in our last chance — we beat them; we finally beat them! School spirit was at its peak at that game — the never-ending roar of the fans was heard while programs, pom-poms, and “Tigers — 1 foam fingers were waved in the air. During the last few minutes of the game at The Pit, the fans cheered on the track at the edge of the field. The final buzzer was synonymous with a race’s gunshot, as hundreds of fans rushed onto the field to congratulate our champs. In the words of one Tiger, Keith Schonert, the experience was just like when the Cards won the World Se- ries! The coaches were carried off the field on the players' shoulders, amid cheers of “WE'RE NUMBER ONE!! To recap the most successful Tiger season ever, which created many fond memories for an endless number of people, we quote Coach Wil- son: “It has been the most rewarding experience of my life; it is a team I will never forget. After being 0-4, they hustled to win 8 of their last 10 conference games, proving themselves to be excellent com- petitors. Keith Schonert paced the team in scoring, while Brian Ginder and Mike Kap- per led in rebounding. Keith Schonert was selected as an All-Conference player. Fel- low seniors Mike Griffith, Mike Kapper, and Robert Gallagher were awarded Hon- orable Mention. The team finished up the season with an 11-15 record. The Junior Varsity team ended their sea- son with 15 wins and only 3 loses. Coach Hough was proud of his team and expects another good season next year. Pat Murray led the JV with the most points scored over- all, and Mike Walker had the most re- bounds. It was another good season for the Tiger freshmen as they combined their efforts for a total of 25 victories. The A Team’s record was 16-3; the B team held an impres- sive 9-0 record. Leading scorers were Tony Ritter and Jim Laughlin. Overall, every Tiger team played to the best of its ability, to win favor in the eyes of the coaches. A lot of good things are expect- ed from boys like Darrin Wheat, Pat Mur- ray, Brian Ginder, Brandon Weems, Doug Curtis, Mike Walker, Jon Quayle, David Harting, and Phil Herman for next year’s team. Coach Herrin summed up the season with this: “Our players played hard and never quit; this is a tribute to their competi- tiveness.’’ “I hope Coach doesn’t take me out of the game for hot-doggin. — Phil Herman 158 Row 1: Todd Gibson, Jerry Lyon. In this case, for the Lady Tigers, it’s been the greatest season ever since girls’ basketball started at ERHS. It has been a dream come true for seniors Penny Dietz and Susan Wright, who have been looking forward to a season like this for four years. The 1982-83 season has reflected the theme of the Olnean, “A Different Year”. The girls started the season by beating the Rob- inson Maroons, then they went on to capture the consolation championship in the Newton Tournament. After surviving two more conference games, the Tigers invaded Lady Indian terri- tory, just barely scalping them 76-75. Their winning streak con- tinued for three more games — until a loss to Newton, which didn’t discourage the Tigers, as they went on to the North Egypt Conference championship. This was the second time Olney cap- tured this honor, the first time being in 1978. With this accom- plished, the Tigers headed south to Benton, where they captured Olney’s first regional championship by trouncing Benton 50-39. The girls then journeyed to the Highland Sectionals, where they played Murphysboro and were defeated 66-44. The girls are to be commended for a fine season, finishing 19-5 overall. The JV team likewise had a successful season. Their only loss was to Mt. Carmel; their impressive record stands at 17-1. Coach Alan Dietz has reason to be proud of his award winning players: Rita Ledeker and Rhonda Lathrop, honorable mention in the NEC; Susan Wright, 2nd team in the NEC; and Penny Dietz, 1st team in the NEC for the second year in a row, and the NEC Most Valuable Player. “If you ain’t gonna guard me any closer than that, I’ll just take the shot.” — Rhonda Lath- rop “If you don’t mind Rhonda, would you leave your hands off of me so I could get the ball.” — Jane Jennings Tiger Raqueteers Row Is Brad Potter, Jeff Roth, Mack Tester, Brian Harris, Heath Hamilton, Row 2: Pete Morse, Matt Franklin. Brad Doll, Mike Shipman. “Here Jeff Roth is mortally wounded by the dreaded flying tennis racket — Jeff Roth “Open wide Mr. Cartmill.' — Brian Harris “Tough serve ya all!” — Mack Tester “I hope Brian gets it in so we don't look bad. — Heath Hamil- ton V«U As many may already know, this year's tennis team didn’t exactly impress anyone with an incredible record. However, when the coaches of other teams asked Coach Larry Cartmill the ages of his players, they received a shocking answer that may keep them up nights next year. Of the six varsity singles players, there was only one senior and one junior; the others were three freshmen and one sophomore. This spells trouble for the team's future opponents. As a young team, the boys gained in- credible experience. While only winning three matches this year and winning zero and four points respectively in NEC and Sectionals, the team learned a lot, and they are expected to bring home many victories in the future. The first six positions were held by: Jeff Roth, Mack Tester, Brad Potter, Brad Doll, Matt Franklin, and Pete Morse. Lady Tigers Track And Field Row 1: Leslie Floyd, Robyn Maines, Susan Wright, Evelyn Huff, Angie Fehrenbacher, Vapsi Tohala, Debbie Militello; Row 2: Cindy Kesler, Robin Burgin, Mary Beth Berger, Jane Jennings, Ray me Patter- son, Cindy Witte, Kelly Gottfried; Row 3: Connie Hammond, Jackie Doan, Tracy Brooks, Stephanie Nelson, Penny Dietz, Tammy Ridgely, Julie Wilson, Debbie Johnston. “I’m gonna make it” — Tina Brewer “What a look of determination.” — Penny Dietz The 1983 Tiger Track Team, in keeping with Blast Richland tradition, had a very successful year. The team's overall record was 4-1. The Tigers also showed their abilities in the Olney Relay Carnival and the Newton Invitational, in which meets they placed third and second respectively. The season wasn't very far along when the girls found themselves getting ready for the NEC meet. At the conference meet, held at the ERHS track, the girls grabbed second place. At the sectional meet, held in Mt Vernon, the team had many individual placers as well as two state qualifiers — Susan Wright and Rayme Patterson. Wright, a senior, qualified in the 100 meter dash, as did her freshman teammate, Patterson. Selected for the Decatur Area Best were Penny Dietz, Susan Wright, and the 400 meter relay team consisting of Wright, Dietz, Patterson, and Robin Burgin. Dietz was third in the shot put and fifth in the discus. Wright was sixth in the 200 meter dash and third in the 100 meter hurdles. The team's accomplishments most certainly have given pride to the school and the coaches, Mrs. Schmalhausen and Ms. Zerkle. Gentlemen Tigers Track And Field Row 1: Coach Miller, Jeff Roth, Bengee Bauman, Jim Schnep- per, Billy Parker, Robert Payne, Neal Gassmann, Shannon Hough; Row 2: Frank Gassmann, Clay Wilson. James Sarks, Pat Murray, Jeff Gammon, Doug Curtis, Bob Stevens, Brad Peak, Jeff Militello, Billy Page; Row 3: Coach Phad, Brooke Westall, Tim Sager. Ross Kirk, Greg Kermicle, Brian Ginder, Greg Erwin, Mike Parker, Phil Martin. Bob Satterfield. Andy Kuenstler, Steve Wooldridge, Dale Dean, Coach Carmody. Once again the Tiger track team had a success- ful year. The Varsity fleet-footers had a dual- triangular record of 6-2, finishing second in the NEC. The frosh-soph team were off to an im- pressive start by claiming their NEC champion- ship. Individual and team champs of the NEC meet were the 400 and 800 meter relay teams, both consisting of Bob Stevens, Jeff Gammon, Mike Parker, and Doug Curtis; the 1600 meter team of Bob Satterfield, Brad Peak, Pat Murray, and Mike Parker; Doug Curtis in the 200 meter; and Tom Weiler in the long jump. In the course of the season, a school record — for the 400 meter relay — was broken. Setting the new high time were Jeff Gammon, Brad Peak, Mike Parker, and Doug Curtis. The team had many outstanding individuals, in addition to the team efforts. Qualifying for the Decatur Area Best were Doug Curtis. Jeff Gammon, Frank Gassmann, Pat Murray, Mike Parker, Brad Peak, and Bob Satterfield. The team hopes for this type of season next year, too, although six seniors will be missed. “Frank, if you would have gotten a larger pair of shorts, you wouldn't be in so much pain!” — Brad Peak “Just a few more inches and then I can run to the bathroom! — Jeff Gammon Stop, it hurts!” — Robert Payne “Well Crip, how’s it going?” — Pat Murray Tigers Hardball Row 1: Jeff Ratcliffe, Jeff Wagner, Todd Harris, Clay Keller, Scott Salmon, Brad Hubble, Darin Houchin, Dana Berry; Row 2: Derek Sullivan, Mike Walker, Brad Billingsley, Mike Kapper, Brandon Weems, Brad Kapper, Dave Kermicle, Brian Craig, Tom Weiler; Row 3: Coach Leon Hough. Now for my daring back flip across the plate.” — Derek Sullivan “This is going to be a terrific play! (I hope all the girls are watching!)” — Brad Billings- ley “Hey, Coach — I’m not that kind of a guy.” — Jeff Wagner “In Strat-o-matic that would be an error.” — Mike Walker •bout tlme we started winning.” — Angie Zwlll- ing The Olney Tiger Hardballera had a successful season, fin- ishing 13-7, including runner-up in the Charleston Class AA Regional Tournament after losing 6-5 to Mattoon in the championship game. The Tigers also lost only one confer- ence game all season. The Hardballers finished the season with a .301 team batting average, scoring 106 runs, turning in a team ERA of just 1.76. Clay Keller was voted the team's Most Valuable Player, while Mike Kapper was awarded Pitcher of the Year, Jeff Wagner — Infielder of the Year, Tom Weiler — Outfielder of the Year, and Brad Billingsley — Most Improved Player. These five players did a great job, but they could not have done it without their other team members. Brandon Weems contributed considerably with his left-handed pitching by wielding a sparkling ERA of 1.07 and by his excellent out- fielding. Dave Kermicle hit well and helped with the pitch- ing. The first base was manned by Derek Sullivan. Other team members also made the season an entertaining one. The '83 Tigers lose these fine seniors next season: Brian Craig, Todd Harris, Mike Kapper, and Dave Kermicle. They return 11 lettermen. Decide you're not worthy to kiss her. Following is the quiz you’ve all been waiting for. Who is your perfect man? Take the following quiz, adding the numerical values of your answers to find out. “Go on ” Rate-A-Date • £. s' A 174 Ol) The most romantic thin yojr S nd «“ ™s« on “D.i„ D.,.' 2. Show up on time. Although your appearance comes across as sloppy at times, your wit and personal charm more than make up for this defect. You can ex- pect a life filled with joy, pictures of Phil and Steve Mahre hanging on your bed- room walls, and a complete Scotchguard wardrobe. 32-48 RIGOR MORTISLAND — Marty Feldman Your outstanding character trait is naran- onia. You are checking your environment on all sides, and Marty, being able to search two directions at once, is your role model. Although your neurosis is not dis- abling at present, serious difficulties will ensue when you discover your dream date is now deceased. 49-64 FANTASYLAND — Tom Selleek First off, you cheated. No one gets Tom Selleek, let’s get real. Your choice clearly illustrates a deep-seeded need for a mus- tache and hairy chest, which in turn illus- trates you are attracted to baboons. We strongly recommend psychiatric help for you, the sooner the better. Good Luck! Olnean Re-Jects Kathy Lathrop and Liz Brauer perform the worst form of child abuse known to mankind, force-face painting little kids, so that they go through their adult lives as Ronald McDonald clones! Somebody's gassed! The photographer, Sherrie Brock, or You! Nancy Etson's uncensored reaction to the news that Mr. Woodward will be the 1982-83 Olnean center- fold. Liz Brauer and Kathy Keyth practice their life’s calling — Profes- sional Hood Ornaments. SIMON SAYS — “HANDS UP HIGH Our sneaky photographer caught Mr. Miller living his little known alter-ego, clone of Marty Feldman. i n _ x Heck with the 34 dive off tackle, what row did you say that blonde is sitting in?! 177 “Hi there, sailor!” 178 A sad scene folks, these unknown students didn’t realize that the ERHS gym subway system went out of operation years ago. Al tries to thumb a ride with the photographer. The Ad Pages “Your Call Goes Through Faster If You Dial The Right Number.” Once again it is time to pay tribute to those most generous individuals and businesses who have underwritten this opulent volume — so we will. Spread throughout these pages yellowed with age are various graphic minutiae, which are designed to attract your optic nerves. Our diligent staff has left no stones unturned in the never ending search for typographical and grammatical errors. However, they did leave several pages unturned. In keeping with past OLNEAN policy, our introverted proofreaders wish to remain anonymous. In starting a new policy, any business or person wishing to know the proofreaders' identities can, for a small fee — see Mike Baker or Mr. Shafer. Once again the staff members, and their families, wish to thank everyone who helped with this year’s book. We’re sending letter bombs to those of you who didn’t. Best Wishes 1983 Graduates Don E.
