The letter by the date indi- cates the meeting date of the group (also, period for Student Council). A student may be an officer (P, V-P, Sec, Treas) in only one (1) club or organization. Stu- dents are to remain‘in the club meeting until the end of the activity period. The homeroom teacher should maintain a record of the clubs to which the students belong. Students sign out on the board for the club meeting. Club roster indicating student's name, homeroom section, officers, should be submittéd to the Activity Committee within a week after the second meeting. Clubs must be chartered by the Student Council. Yearly summaries of the club's services and proposed plans are to be reviewed by the Student Council and the Activity Committee. The only authorized fund-raising activ- ity is the school-wide magazine sale. The profit from magazines sold by each student is equally divided among the clubs of which he is a member. Proceeds went toward athletic indebtedness. The date coincided with the first game in the new gym. After feasting in the cafe- teria, guests went to the ball game and ate some more as Booster Club members served hot popcorn from the new concession booth. Homerooms 12-5 and 10-7 received free passes to the game for selling the most dinner tickets. Mr. Martin enjoys watching the diners. 24 Student Life Lions and Wildcats meet in a planning session. ERSH Holds First Assembly In December The student body of ERSH sat together for the first time in the new gymnasium on the twentieth of December. The chorus and ensemble gave a concert of Christmas music. Afterwards the cheerleaders led the student body in its first indoor pep rally. Sophomore class officers seek new horizons. Sophomores Explore New Areas Of Learning The air was filled with quiet chatter, un- certainty, and nervous excitement as mem- bers of the Sophomore Class first stepped into the halls of Eastern searching for that home- room section. Everything seemed to come in numbers — books, classrooms, lockers, buses, even students. Months passed and the strangeness of their new environment turned into familiar sur- roundings. There were clubs to join, games to attend, projects to make for Fall Festival, gifts to wrap for “Christmas Spirit’, lab drawings to complete without smudges, book reports to make, and tests to take. At the end of the year they had “learned the ropes.”’ The ‘“‘confused underclassmen” label was not appropriate any longer as they looked ahead to their first year as upperclass- men. 116 Classes Randall Ray Abernathy Lawrence Ray Albright Janet Lynn Alexander John Robert Allen Terry Lynn Allen Cynthia Gail Allred Donna Sue Allred Sylvia Jean Ammons Jackie Renee Armstrong William Hugh Atwell Ricky Leach Auman Linda Gale Beane Cathy Diane Beck Johnny David Beckham William Samuel Bittle, Jr. Donnie Ray Blackmon James Douglas Blake Barbara Gail Boger Judy Carolyn Bowden William Rickey Bowers Grady Keith Bowman Vernon Carl Bowman, Jr. Debra Jo Brady Doris Ray Brady Golda Kaye Brady Jackie James Brady Ronald Thomas Brady Timothy Lee Brady James Eugene Brewer Cynthia Ann Brigman Thomas Neal Brinkley Carolyn Denice Bristow Edward Elvin Brooks Ezelle Albert Brower Lisa Marie Brower Anna Craig Brown Patricia Ann Brown Ray Ira Brown Roger Willis Brown Ronald Ray Burgess Ricky Jay Burns Classes 117 Kathryn Lucinda Burrows Larry Keith Byrd Barry Mark Cagle Cynthia Lynn Cagle Sonny Dale Cagle John Wayne Campbell Ronald Craig Campbell Deborah Sue Cardwell Brenda Kay Carlton Lloyd Cecil Cassidy Kenneth Billy Caviness Michael Wayne Caviness Paul Ray Caviness William Anthony Caviness Deborah Ann Chaney Randy Colester Cheek Richard Eugene Cheek Ruby Lynette Cheek Teresa Charlett Cheek Betty Jean Clapp Sophomores Learn “Ins”’ With two pencils and a pen Randy Currie is well prepared to make his official entry. 118 Classes Queen Ann Clapp Willie Faye Clay Julie Ann Coble Rhonda Faye Cockman Jesse Raymond Coley William Miles Coley Keith Edward Conner Garry Lynn Cook Angela Darlene Cooper Candace Joelene Cox Joan Ardell Cox Leonard Rayvon Cox Marta Deane Cox Philip Edward Cox Rebecca Jean Cox Ricky Alan Cox Stephen Victor Cox Frankie Marjo Craven Gregory Francis Craven Kenneth Lloyd Craven d “Outs” Of Eastern ee Debbie Smith checks out. As upper- classmen they suffered through the anxiety of the PSAT and SAT. During Careers Day they paused to give serious thought to their future plans. Spring brought the anticipation and en- joyment of hosting the Junior-Senior. Arrival of school rings added a climatic moment to a busy year. Now, enriched by their past experiences, classmates were ready to move forward. All of the Junior activities were a build-up for that final step when the Class of ’74 would accept the challenges and responsibilities of leadership in their senior year. Seniors Prepare For Greater Challenges Reflecting on the past three years, they remem- ber with mingled pride and envy as classmates were chosen members and leaders of clubs, Student Council, publications, and athletic events. The “Spirit of °73” soared at pep rallies, brought home the spirit stick, and spread its enthusiasm to out- distance all opposition in the magazine sales cam- paign. Classmates groaned together over the expense and rush of graduation, shared the nostalgia and pride of the Senior Hall, and felt the relief that came with the last form filled out, the last appli- cation made, and the last English test taken. Finally, capped and gowned, they stood together for the last time. The letter by the date indi- - cates the meeting date of the group (also, period for Student Council). A student may be an officer (P, V-P, Sec, Treas) in only one (1) club or organization. Stu- dents are to remain in the club meeting until the end of the activity period. The homeroom teacher should maintain a record of the clubs to which the students belong. Students sign out on the board for the club meeting. Club roster indicating student's name, homeroom section, officers, should be submittdd to the Activity Committee within a week after the second meeting. Clubs must be chartered by the Student Council. Yearly summaries of the club's services and proposed plans are to be reviewed by the Student Council and the Activity Committee.
