Science Fair Entertains PTSA An academic highlight of each year is the Science Fair, a display of individual projects by students in the Science Department. The over-all winner was “Pollution Affects A Habitat—Deep River,’ by Wanda and Calvin Boger. This was a study on the effect pollution has had in deoxygenating the water of Deep River. All projects were exhibited after the February PTSA meeting. = MOTION WITH SOUND f 1. Students were on hand to explain projects. 2. Projects of varying themes were found in the multi-purpose room. 3. Photography and electronics made up this winner. 4. “Zone Electrophoresis” won first place in Physical Science. 5. Paula Hogan and Vicky Young demonstrate hand-clapping switch.

Student Council Launches Project Christmas Spirit, spon- sored annually by the Student Coun- cil, is the contribution of all home- rooms to underprivileged children. Clothing, food, and toys to be dis- tributed by the Welfare Department were collected on Friday before the holidays. A special program of carols provided by the chorus was short- ened by a surprise visit from Santa Claus. Santa, who resembled East- ern’s own Mr. Hooker, arrived at the assembly with his bag of candy and was soon mobbed by the students. Christmas Spirit
