Spirit Week at Eastern was a time when students could express loy- alty to their school and team. A bon- fire and pep rally at the home of Beth Phillips brought enthusiasm to a peak the night before the big game. Homecoming was October 8, and the Wildcats lost a hard fought conference game to East Davidson, 18-0. But the game wasn’t the only event of the evening. After a week of speculation, the Homecoming Court was announced. Due to prob- lems concerning the selection of these girls, this year’s court was rather large. Enthusiasm was not dampened, however, when the 35 girls were introduced by Master of Ceremonies, Parks Allen. Wanda Carter was crowned Homecoming Queen by the 1970 Queen, Sue Brower.
