0 f' Q n 0 WE HOPE YOU WILL ENJOY YOUR ANNUAL ft « C 1 + + 0 m e DEDICATION A year has passed since Gary Wayne Ockerhausen has left us. We are not as conscious of his absence as we are of the lack of his presence, for we can remember a smile, a word, a laugh. He was everyone's friend and had a contagious love of life which, happily, infected all who knew him. It is with fond memories and cherished recollections that we dedicated THE PANTHER of 1967 to his memory. ADMINISTRATION BOARD OF EDUCATION First Row: R. Wade Grimes; Virgil T. In the fall the chapter cleaned, bagged, and sold popcorn that we had raised during the sum- mer. The officers went to the offi- cers training school in Jacksonville. In December we sponsored our annu- al pest contest. Large numbers of birds and rodents were destroyed. During National F. F. A. week, in February, we held our annual fam- ily pot luck supper. Awards won dur- ing the year were passed out to the members. On February 25 we spon- sored the Sweetheart Ball in cooper- ation with the F. H. A. It was a fit- ting climax to a successful and en- joyable year. H. A. this year has been quite active. We have sponsored many work days in Milton, Pearl, and Detroit. At Christmas time we traveled throughout the communities singing carols to the aged and shut in, fol- lowed by our gift exchange and party. The F. H. A. also had a project of selling candy. This brought us much needed funds for the Mother-Daughter Tea and initiation of new members. The Sweetheart Ball was a great success. Everyone enjoyed them- selves very much. All in all, everyone will agree the F. H. A. had a very prosperous year. Pam Clemons, Business Manager not pictured. We of the annual staff hope that you derive as much enjoyment from looking at and reading the annual now and in the future as we have from assembling it. We have tried to present a picture of East Pike as it was and is every day, any day. We feel that this everyday school cannot be fittingly represented by the stiff lines of organizational groups alone. For this reason we have tried to include some snapshots, too. Although we must never be content with what we have done, the annual staff is proud to publish the 1967 Panther. Because these boys had only grade school experience, or none at all, Mr. Ricker felt this would be the best place to supply it. Another prob- lem confronting the team was lack of height, which presents a problem at any level of the game. The total games won by this group was not very impressive, but several teams that actually ran over us in the first of the season, had problems doing so, and some didn't at the season's end. I feel there is some basketball talent in this young group, and they will produce some good East Pike teams in the future. 42 BASEBALL Kneeling: Eulice Franklin, Gary Robinson, Greg Bess, David Parks, John Hoover, Larry Manchester, Hatcher, Bob Pressey, David Kilpatrick.
