Practice was started late in August with only live lettermen back. The highlight of the season was our victory over Columbiana by a score, of 12-0. Although the score was not very large it was a very decisive game, the first downs being 9 to 1 and our highly spirited eleven did not let the CLIPPERS past the mid-stripe. Another bright spot was our victory over a strong Louisville team. Five players were given Tri-County honors. Captain Peterson was awarded a berth on the first team, Herb Gorby and Joe Nolan were put on the second team. Ab Torrence and Jack Britton were given honorable mention. Much credit for a spirited team must be given to Coach Parker whose ability as a coach and his good sportsmanship made possible the success of this team. SCHEDULE E. P. H. S. They started the season by competing in the Pitt Indoor Meet where they placed third. The next two meets were at home and the Ward men swamped Wellsville 75W to 23K and East Liverpool 71 to 38. They then journeyed to the Invi- tational Meet at Uhrichsville where they edged Newark 59 to 56 to take first place honors from a field of ten schools. Continuing the winning streak, they took honors at the Mentor Relays from a Held of competitors even larger. At Washington Relays they were tripped but still stayed in the winning column, taking a third in this meet ........ The County Meet at Salem was an easy victory for the team. They tallied 71 points to Salem's 50 and East Liverpool's 30. The following week at the District Meet, also held in Salem, four boys qualified to compete in the state meet. In this meet, Stanley Kell set a new discus mark for the high school with a throw of 144 feet 5 inches ..... In the State Meet at Columbus, we took two seconds, Stan Kell taking second place honors in the discus and Harold Roberts doing likewise in the half mile. Roberts set a new school record for the half mile with the race, placing the new mark at 1 minute 58 seconds.
