Page Eighl To the Students of East Night I-ligh School: For almost a quarter of a century it was my privilege and pleasure as principal to welcome each year at East Night several thousand earnest and ambitious young people eager to prepare themselves more fully for life, and to advise them and work with them in achieving this aim. Because of this long association with East Night students, I believe l know better than any other Cincinnatian the sacrifices made, the hardships borne, the dif- ficulties overcome, and the success attained by them. Among l4last's graduates may be found many ofthe business, professional, and civic leaders of today. It is therefore with much elation that l note another class is about to graduate from the dear old school, and that another Ros'rRUM is about to leave the press. YYell do I remember the heroic edorts of the first East Night Senior Class to publish a year book! Fittingly it was the Class of 1911-the first East Night class to graduate from the present W'oodward Building. The Ros'rRUM then was a modest ninety-two page paper-backed volume. Rach year since then the Ros'rRUM Editorial Staff has enlarged and improved the Ros'rRL7M. Today I am told it re- ceives national recognition as a high-school Annual. That this year's RosTRUM may even surpass all previous editions, and that the future, whose door is just now opening before the seniors, may be even brighter than they at present dream, is the wish of your friend, ALBERT Sci-IWARTZ.

Page Tm To the Members of the Class of I936: l extend my heartiest congratulations upon your graduation from this great institution for adult education, blast Night High School. My felicitations to you can augment in only a small way the personal satisfaction which you derive from the knowledge of your own successes. The sacriiices which we make in order to achieve the fulfillment of our hopes often lead us, in themselves, to a satis- faction beyond the pleasure we receive from the praise of others. The achievement of a glorious school record, then, is largely its own recompense, and in the instance of Fast Night it is one which is shared by many, many hundreds who have striven for the ideals which this school represents. The past few years have witnessed remarkable strides at East Night, taken with the aid of a co-operative Faculty and an enthusi- astic student body. lt is gratifying to remember that during the six years I was privileged to serve as principal of East Night there came in rapid succession many new activities. Among them were the institution of a Class Nightg the organization of the honorary fra- ternity, Beta Hta Nu, monthly auditorium sessions with speakers and lecturers of prominence in our own cityg the adoption of a standard school ring and insignia, and the enlargement of Dramatic Club activities. One of the outstanding accomplishments has been the publication of an .ANNU.-XL, superior in its class. On this occasion, which is the commemoration of the Ros'rRUM's Silver Anniversary, I congratulate you. l am happy to recall the excellent record made by East Night during the six years of my stewardship. THE ROSTRUM, in national competition, received two ratings of Superior and three of All- Americanfl Better still, I am glad to know that this book bids fair to continue the splendid record ofthe past. Sincerely yours, RALPH G. WILBUR. R I 'D .J ll
