Debi Allman is pictured with her third place poetry trophy from Aurora. Debi also went to the District Tournament at Springfield and was ranked first in Dramatic Reading. From there she went to the State Contest and received a superior rating. Harry Styron was master of ceremony at the Christmas program. Work is done on not only interpretive reading but also on increasing one's ability to observe and appreciate the simple things of everyday life. A Christmas program was presented, the all school play and a one- I act play. There were various tournaments throughout the year in which East Newton was well represented.
