All about us are the ditions that represent the stability and progress of East High. We see the new and the old. changing and the unchanging, the transient and the permanent. We are among the sights, sounds, voices, and faces that weave this complex pattern. The mighty eagle, standing proudly with wings widespread, reminds us of all those who have been proud to he called an East Eagle. Like those before us, we participate gladly in the annual Christmas giving. We are a part of the laughter on the steps, the conversations in the halls, the discussions in the classrooms. The clock, symbol of times past and timeless ideals, guides our movement as it did those who preceded us. Time does not stand still. Changes occur. We see the Malone House become a place of study for our expanding student body. We are introduced to the fascinations of business machines. We delight in newly designed senior rings. Tradition and transition stand side by side at East. We are proud of the past, but we prepare for the future. The 1966-67 Eagle honors the traditions and transitions that are a. nart oOiasl High. + X 5 Our Leaders | 5wj 5u ■fl - - Q- f ' 0(« 5 Mr. Martin, our other leader, is definitely a man of action. He makes sure all is running smoothly and as it should be. He directs those who need directing and seeks to be a friend to all who will be a friend to themselves. We appreciate his untiring efforts. Just as every great nation must have able and competent heads of state, every great institution must have qualified leaders. Our leaders are Mr. J. H. Windrow and Coach Martin. Mr. Windrow works diligently for the betterment of East High. He plans our activities and always strives toward the excellence demanded of him. He attends all athletic programs and actively supports the many worthwhile projects sponsored during the school year. His door is open to all students who seek his advice. We are grateful for such a competent leader. Guidance Staff 3JJ ....w. 0S+- tA Making necessary class changes, advising students about college, solving individual problems, administering tests, planning career assembly programs and sponsoring guidance programs are but a few of the duties performed daily by the guidance staff. They are sincerely interested in every student and any problem which that student might have. 'fcrr r7'' np MR. JAMES BUSHULEN Social Studies B.A. . M.A. MRS. JOYCE BRUNS English, Speech B.S. MRS. The editor of the Yearbook Staff spent a week at the University of Tennessee gathering ideas for copy, headlines, themes, and layouts. With the beginning of a new school year, the whole staff came alive taking pictures, writing copy, designing layouts, cropping, indexing, copyreading, and typing. Much time and effort has been put into this publication of the 1967 Grey Eagle to bring to you an accurate picture of school life here at East High. Constantly searching for new ideas.
