MM Our Diamond Girls ...So Dressed Up The Lions went through a season of ups and clowns. EMCC got off to a 6-2 start. With the experience and talent, the Lions had high expectations. With an 11-6 record, the Lions hit hard times. They would lose the next 6 games. The North Division Tournament brought new life. Scooba crushed Northwest for the right to play Northeast. The Lions fought brilliantly in front of a great crowd only to lose to the number 3 team in the nation. Leon McCoy had a fine year for the Lions, finishing with a 20 point average. We say good-bye to our eight sophomores and thanks for the great memories. 87-88 Basketball Statisticians - Tim Bryan, Wendy DiMichele, Linda Lee Barham, Melanie Dudley, and Tol VanDevender. LADY LION WRAP-UP The 1987-1988 basketball season for the lady lions ended with a record of 1 1-1 2. The young Lions had a season of ups and downs but never gave up hope. We look forward to seeing the Lady Lions in action in the upcoming 88-89 basketball season yet at the same time we hate to see our sophomores leave. The graduating sophomores are Pansy Blair, Yolanda Lanier, Cynthia Fair, Melanie Dudley-statistician and Helen Everson- manager. The 1 987 EMJC EMCC football season ended with the Lions posting a 5-4-1 record. Led by a strong defense and a talented offense, the Lions finished fourth in the North Divison. During the 1987 season, the Lions posted wins over Gulf Coast, Northwest, Jones County, Cohoma and the nationally ranked Southwest. The losses included East Central, Northeast, Holmes, and Mississippi Delta. Also, the Lions tied with Itawamba. Many Lions received post season honors such as: Anthony Brewer, Greg Seaphus, Malcolm Hall, William Brunelle and Dewayne Hailey. They played in the all-star game at Northeast Junior College in December. Many other recieved honors also. Hard playing and determination helped these players to recieve these honors. Many others deserve recoginition. The Lions played hard and gave everything they had to obtain a 5-4-1 record and they deserve our applause. 1987-1988 EMCC Football Team NO NAME POS. HT. WT.
