I believe that in every E.M.J. C. student there are infinite possibilities for good. We must continue our learning process for growth, take a personal responsi- bility for our country, and rise to any challenge which may confront us. Our education is just beginning. It is a process which will continue throughout our lives. We must choose wisely in the decisions which we make, for each will help fashion our most priceless possession, our character. It now becomes our task to Bear the Torch of Education. Hold it high! Remember that a free man, when ignorant, is a dangerous man — that our society demands certain learnings and competencies common to all citizens. Although we often do not realize that they are working quietly behind the scenes, our Board is at the head of the administrative functions of East Mississippi Junior College. A member of the Board of Trustees gets little recognition for many hours spent working hard. We would like to say to all of you, who have played such a major role in our college life, a very sincere, thank you. 96 Board of Trustees CLAY COUNTY: Mr. W. G. McCuiston, West Point, Miss. To the Class of 1966-67: It is with pride and with expectation that I reiterate to you today ' s strategic positron of the junior colleges of Mississippi. In recent years the most significant and promising strides in the field of education have, in my opinion, been made by the community junior colleges, the fast- est growing educational institutions in our nation. We are especially happy to have had added to E.MJ.C. ' s tax-supporting district this summer two new counties: Clay and Oktibbeha. We wish to express our appreciation to everyone who has helped in making this dream become a reality. This is yet another indication of the great progress that our college continues to make. We are making great advances, and your role in our progress is indeed challenging. To develop yourselves to your fullest capacities is your duty to your country, to your fellowman. and to yourselves. I sincerely hope and believe that each of you will accept this responsibility. My best wishes go with you. Sincerely yours, R. A. Harbour 98 Dean Ethridge Gays The spirit of the student body is very important to any institution and is determined by the individual attitude of all students combined. I want to thank the student body for its splendid cooperation and for the fine attitude expressed in all phases of school work during the year. It is with pleasure that I look forward to working with you students who compose the freshman class again next year. I know that your record as sophomores will be even better than the one you have made this year. We regret to have to give up our sophomores. However, we send you forth with a wish that each of you will have a life of continued usefulness and success in whatever you undertake. You will always have a welcome on your return to your Alma Mater. The students and teach- ers next session will be disappointed if you are not present when the Home-Coming roll is called.
