President ' s Message I feel that never before in the history of our state or of our nation have our leaders been more keenly aware of the vital role that our junior colleges are playing and of the great potential contribution not only to our way of life, socially and economically, but also to our very survival as a nation and as a people. We as citizens and as taxpayers must not wait to be incited into action by leadership at the national level, but we must take, at the local level, the initiative to meet the great challenge that is upon us. The junior colleges of Mississippi are now in a strategic position to assume the lead in the field of education beyond the high school level, where the greatest number of academic casualties occur. On the other hand, every student, whether he be in high school or in college, has a duty and an obligation to his fellowman and to his country to develop himself to his fullest capacities, as we embark upon a new era in the history of the world. I sincerely hope and believe that each of you will assume this responsi- bility that is yours, and as you go out into a world beset with anxiety and strife, but also with endless opportunities, may you ever keep foremost as your aim the motto of your alma mater - Knowledge, Maturity, Responsibility.
