(Top) Captains: Duke Reynolds, Steve Anderson, Suzette Seigle, and Suzy Glennon lead our team on to a hopeful victory. (Middle) Christine Rugolo slides through the hoop as the team cheers her on (Bottom) Doug Solow shows his expertise on the obstacle course. Steve Klepack shows his strength and endurance during the tug-o-war. Battle of the Classes 25 The Class of '87 chose the U.S. Armed Forces as their theme. The guys wore army fatigues and acted out the drill from Stripes. The girls paraded in the uniforms of the U.S. Armed Forces. Kay Griffin paraded around the gym as an ar- my tank while Steve Anderson and Brian Walter got the class charged up by portraying Rambo and Uncle Sam respectively. Another hit of the evening was the Junior mural which represented the U.S. Armed Forces, and took first place in this event.

 BATTLE OF THE CLASSES Heraea has given way to the Battle of the Classes. No longer a strictly female contest, the Battle pits the three classes against each other to see which class is more skilled in a variety of contests. The winner is the class which piles up the best total score. In the final weeks before the Battle, the classes declare war on each other. In the 1987 Battle of the Classes, the present Senior Class chose a military theme. 24 Battle of the Classes

(Upper Right) Mr. Popelka and Superpnncipal observe Spirit Week (Middle Right) Teachers Pet' Joe Malandruccolo talks to Miss DiMenna about the fall Pep Rally (Above) You can tell Mrs Johnson loves her English classes. The Week of October 7th kicked off Spirit Week! Almost everyone displayed school spirit. On Oct. 7th we learned of everyone's school spirit. It was Hat Day and they ranged from Mickey Mouse ears to large Mexican sombreros! It was followed by Jersey Day on Oct. 8th when we bor- rowed a friend's or wore our own jerseys. Oct. 9th was Blue and Gold Day. Almost everyone came in with sweats. The final day before Homecoming, Oct. 10th was Pep Rally. Everyone on Fall sports had to dress up to celebrate many years of tradition! Classes were shortened as the Cheerleaders and Rockettes became nervous about performing in front of the many fans.” The Pep Rally ended with the Varsity Cheerleaders and Football players gathering on the gym floor to their theme song Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2. It was one of the best Spirit Weeks East Meadow has ever seen!!!! 26 Spirit Week
