Potters gave Toledo Libbey a tough battle but lost 22 to 6. Bob Xlackall turned in a wonderful performance and scored the Potter's lone touchdown on a scintillating 29-yard dash in the second quarter. junior halback Dave Zelch did most of the ball lugging for the Potters since Bill O,Neil was sitting on the sidelines with an injured ankle. The Blue and VVhite bowed to a top-rated XVarren Harding team, 3:2 to 8. Substitute quarterback Ken Cunningham, filling in for injured Bob Mackall, gave all indications of developing into one of the school's best passers while connecting with Tim Archer on a 14- yard aerial for the lone Potter touchdov.ui. Nlusuraca blasted through tackle for the 2- point conversion. ,- ELHS turned back New Philadelphia with a 16 to 6 victory. The strategy of Coach Venditti in switching regular guard Nick Nlusuraca to halfback was a good idea as Nick made both the touchdowns: the first. on a 35-yard dash followed by a two-point con- version by Mackallg the second. on a buck off right tackle followed by the two-point con- version by Dave Coodballet. Salem routed the Potters 45 to 20 as Nlackall sparkled in the defeat. Bob galloped for two touchdowns against the Quakers, one a spec- tacular TO-yard dash in the fourth quarter and the other a 16-yard dash as the whistle was sounding the end of the game. john McCullough, Joe Leigh- Playing his first year varsity ball, john played a good, defensive part. joe, after having a broken leg in his junior year, was an outstanding senior center. if Ravanna Bell, Carl Ludwig-Rav anna played a vital part on the defensive unit at his middle guard position. Carl, playing his first year varsity ball, was an outstanding tackle. Pat Cooper, john Horger -A hard fighting end, Pat was a fine asset to the mor- ale of the team. John, play- ing a guard position, won the Coaches Merit Award. eleven eniors ow out of 5 eason I Dave Coodballet, Bill O'Neil, Nick Musuraca-Dave, a halfback, received the Honorary Captainis Award and Best Back Award. Bill, the fullback for three years, had a few bad luck injuries in his senior year, but was rated Honorable Mention in the State. Nick, guard for three years, received the Bill Booth 1 in Award, and received honors for making A - , ,v the All-Ohio second team defense.
