Vishak. .gfuclenf Kouncif Cjwlcw uccefiafuf Mar The i957-58 Student Council represented the student body and helped to regulate activities and promote better relations between students and faculty. One of the basic projects this year was the revision of the ELHS handbook in order to familiarize new students with the new senior high and provided help- ful information to all. The Council also planned and sponsored the very successful Student vs. Faculty basketball game. Profits were used for further furnishings for their new office. This governing body contributed much to the school as well as expressing the opinions of the entire student body. The meetings were held biweekly and were composed of representatives and alternates selected in each homeroom. The officers this year were: Pres. D. Anthony, V. Pres. W. O'Neil, Sec. N. Vodrey, Treas. N. Musuraca. Dave Anthony, president of the Student Council, did OF1 excellent job Belgw we See Seqjretgry Ngncy V0 in this position. This group of qualified juniors and Seniors joined different points of view on the pro and con de- bates held weekly. Membership in this group gave a key to ex- pression of opinion. SPANISH CLUB-The Spanish Club met once a month during the school year and one of their activities was to become ac- quainted with Spanish speaking countries and their customs. Thornberry. FRENCH CLUB, though small, is very active. It meets bi-weekly, and its members manage to pack many different projects into those meetings. Guided by Miss Hilda Werner, their advisor, and Peggy Kinsey, their president, they presented plays for their own entertain- ment and sold at a basketball game. The group worked hard to make an end-of-the-year party possible.
