Golf Team Up To Par iQ Doing what he does best, Derrick puts another in the hole. K L.k:L 84 Peanut gets into a rough position. Lance Reid tees off. The 1985 Golf Team had a surprisingly good season despite what could have been two major handicaps. First, the change of coaches half way through the season could well have posed difficulties to the players, but Coach Finger finished the season with no problems. Second, the team suffered what appeared to be the loss of last years number 1 seeded playen Derrick Dellingen to hand surgery. He continued to play with only one hand although it caused him to lose the number 1 position, to freshman Lance Reid. At the end of the season, Derrick recovered the use of his hand and came in second in the conference tournament only two strokes behind the state champion. Along with Lance and Derrick, David Bargoil, jay Schultz, Chris Gunthen and Dell Major all contributed a good golf season to finish fifth in the conference.

The athletic program involves many students and faculty members both directly and indirectly. This year we really did obtain excellence and recognition with our sports program. Our outstanding athletes earned many awards as well. School spirit is obvious throughout the yeah but its during basketball games that the parents Come Alive! The Pony Express carried fans to all the away games and made it possible for people who normally could not find their way to be there and cheer on their team. GO MUSTANGS! N-sw East Sprints To Fourth ln Conference The 1985 Boys' Track Team finished the year at fourth place in the conference tournament. It was the best that an East Senior High Boys' Track team had fin- ished in years. There were many highlights over the season, but two will be most remembered. Darrel Dewitt made All-Confer- ence, and Rob Davis, a 230- pound shot putt throwen ran the 440 Relay at Statesville. That was a sight to remember!
