Varsity boys suffer defeat in semi- inals The East Varsity Boys' team experienced a rough season after losing three starters to graduation. The Mustangs also lost a number of games by just one or two points. Coach Mike Harrill says, It was a frustrating yeah with a lot of close games. We just couldn't get over the hump. The leading scorers of the team were Mark Mayo with 299 points and Steve Melby with 263 points. The boys entered the Confer- ence Tournament seeded sixth and defeated third-seeded St. Stephens. In the semi-finals East lost to second-seeded Lin- colnton by one point. This defeat ended the boys'season with a record of 3-9 in the Conference and 7-7 overall. Varsity girls display their colors The Lady Mustangs made an impressive showing this season. Yvonne Crouse moved up from I .V coaching to work with this years Varsity team. The team consisted of thirteen players ranging from freshmen to seniors. Each girl was given a chance to play and each girl had a different style. Their separate techniques came together and formed a single unit that worked well together The anticipation of every game added to the excitement. Win or lose, the pride of East Lincoln always stood out from ev- eryone else. We would like to congratulate Coach Crouse and the players on their successful season.
