LIFE AT To familiarize the readers with the everyday scholastic life at Leyden these pictures take you into the school and into the classroom. The scenes above are typical of the 98 classes conducted daily by the 22 members of the faculty. Above is one American LEYDEN History class which did extensive outside reference work. Mrs. Lalor issued excuses to tardy students. The English class shown is representative of a large number of English classes. Other scenes are the cafeteria, shop, and mechanical drawing students and

CLUBS Many were the achievements of the Student Council under the direction of Mr. Moser. These students, as Class Officers, led their respective classes on to success. Weekly issues of the school paper were a result of the Leydenite Staff's work and Miss Robertson, presiding faculty member. This Annual's production was due partly to the ability of the Annual Staff. A successful year was had by the Debate Club. Miss Murphy arranged for two radio broadcasts and inter-scholastic contests also. The Quill and Scroll is an International Society for High School Journalists. Students of special journalistic achievements are members of this organization. •» 21

LIFE AT LEYDEN one of the 5 typing classes. Miss Mahler found great convenience with the new Ediphone. The geometry class sought the solution with Miss Flood as a guide, and from the corridor is a glimpse of Mr. Meyer's bookkeeping class. The library with several thousand books provides a quiet, popular retreat for students. The cooks of the future put forth their efforts with Miss Lowe's help. The cheer leaders lent a newfound spirit to the student body. There are also the sewing class, the 5 members of the National Band and Orchestra Clinic, and Miss Riehl attending a purchaser in the book store.
