f Lambert -Q.-La.-1..c rqj' ties. It was all pretty much of a nuisance, you may be sure, for by this time we had all acquired a great many outside interests. Nevertheless the hard work had its compensations, not the least of which was the amusement We got out of watching a group of newcomers who were trying to enact the Freshman scene nearby. Compared with the splendid work we had done the previous year, their antics were absurd, to say the least. Happily, the Sophomore scene also had a Christmas and New Year's interval, which all of us planned for far ahead. Shortly after the Christmas holiday, we gathered up our stage properties and with joyful hearts turned our faces to the new' studio building just completed. Our importance in the scheme of things was shown when w'e initiated the Freshmen at a track meet party in the new gym-the first party ever held there. In order to see what other actors were doing in the world most of the class journey- ed to the Chicago Theatre, one dreary April evening, to see Richard Dix in Knock-Out Riley. Almost before we knew' it June had come once more and the Sophomore scene was at an end. The stage director told us we might report again in September for the third or Junior scene, and this we did on the day set. Upon our work in this scene would depend the achievement of the much to-be-desired happy ending. Our stage manager pointed out that the previous scenes had been simply lead- ups or preliminary scenes to prepare for the Senior cli- max. Enid Phillips, Dale Rogers, George Egnatchek, and Howard Kenaga came to us wishing admittance to our class. They rapidly picked up their cues and helped to make our production even more rich. We smiled at times as w'e thought how' utterly impossible our present activi- ties would have been for us three years before when we tackled the Freshman scene. VVe began to realize how effectively those three years had developed our' abilities and prepared us to handle this big, final Senior scene. The Seniors threw themselves into the activities of the school during the first semester in order to do their part in making everything accomplished at Leyden as success- ful as possible. Our members were outstanding in ath- letics, music, and in the class rooms. In athletics, Frank Morelli, we are proud to say, was voted the most valuable player on the team, and in Basketball, Donald Bell, al- though they were not far ahead of other boys participat- ing orr the respective teams. Our skill in basketball was proved when our class mates helped to win for Leyden the first conference trophy Our enthusiasm and our will to wrn brokc out very cften rn Mr Bakers history class rn the form of sn ke dances which we are proud to sav were the first cyer to take place rn Leyden These snake dances lead through the corridors and sometimes down through the rnarn street Of course we all know this was to arouse the students rnterest rn basket ball Our superrorrty over the Sophomores and Juniors was shown when we walked way wrth the rnter class tournament champronshrp A vrsrt to the band, orchestra and glee club rehearsals would show that almost every Senior was participating rn at least one of these organr fatrons Perh ps be t of all the high percentage of Sen rors on tle honor rolls this year has shown that we have understood the real rrm of school lrfe and what rt means to us rn our future work Deeds, not Words our class mottc has furnished a new thought for the last few weeks of school Our last play Nothing But the Truth prov e' extremely successful rrd leryes us wrth final sense or achievement The closing weeks of school have been full of crowded cvents and dutres Ihe Senior class meet rngs held over the selection of a class grft ordering of cards and announcements measurements for caps and gowns prctare taken for the composite and prepar tron for clrss clay have been mixed wrth final exams, book rc ports checking up of credits rnd yocatronal reports One ot the pleasantest memories that we take away from school rs the frne time we h d when we w ere entertained by the Junrors at the Junior Senror Prom The glorious end rs assured now and there remains only the Com mencement scenr rtselt ind th rt will soon transprre So the scenario ends r happv endrng for a happy Jolly group tlre Class of 1020 Gwendolyn Srebold SENIOR AMBITIONS X Banrc f of 55 011 Doctor Bell .Mant-QAS' -HRM-U Own a cleaning establishment Brekke lf.-Greens., Studen Grertz Prryate Secretary Gohrsch Secretary Student Saleman C P -X Kolze Ty prst urllard Hendrrksen Kenaga Chemrs1 JUNE 1929 NIcNIett 'Ra' '7 Cryrl Engineer Nlorellr Electrical Engineer O Connell Typr Student Sapp Business Man 03-4.4-an-G' Dramatrcs .P4.a.-M7 Prryate Secretary Typist FM Author hgmatchek Crxrl Inngrneer Rogers Row lett Srebold urrgsby Phrllrps v V , r I V .
