Santee Class 'Hlslaw Six years ago a small group of students signed the reglster at East Lansing H1gh School for the first time destmed to be the class of 1932 Under the leadershlp of Dlck Taber Jim Pocock ohn Doyle and Carl Napoli our first class OfTl cers we got underway The school soon realized that here was a class that was not taking a back seat This year sllpped into the next and again electlons faced us our new officers were Dick Davidson ack Herrick Barbara Wheeler and Betty Musselman The social light shone as we had our first class dance and from this time rt has never dlmmed Nmth grade at last and senior high We were represented on student council by Bill Wallmg and Martha Landon Th1S year s officers were Pocock Dick Davidson Leland Hlnshaw and Carl Napoll On the athletlc fields we showed prom mence with a preview of thmgs to come The big dance of the year was Blue Moon the best fresh man dance ever which show ed the enthusiasm our Beginning the next year with a new quartet of ofiicers Carl Napoli Nancy Tamblyn Peggy Mc Caffree and Dan Hicks we continued to show our prowess the fellows in the field of sports and the gals in choruses and clubs Our soph prom was Confusion with decorations typical of teen age life Many successful attempts were made this year to fatten our treasury with the senlor trip always in mind Winter slipped mto sprmg and agaln we see the outside activities which we all remember baseball games track meets and wemer roasts at the city park In the fall we returned m force to see ahead of us a most prom1s1ng junior year It was a great year not only 1n football and basketball wh1ch lncldentally found a majorlty of junlors playing but also in wrestllng and tennis where our teams sought state honors The I Hop Shangrl La again showed the excellent planning and class co opera tion This dance will long be remembered for the striking decorations Men Are Lxke Streetcars our first attempt at drama showed a host of good actors Bill Wallmg Mary Ellen Eckert Mary ane Adams and Peggy McCaffree led us ably through our Junior year At last we were now semors and looking forward to our final year at E L H S Our newly elected officers YN ade Stew ens Carl Napoli Dlana Clana han and Diane Ixxepert proceeded with the help of Miss Stophlet and Mr Pulley to lay the plans for our senior year The seniors were again out standmg ln school activities with Lee Staser and Dan Hicks leadmg the student councll and ack Herrick and Dick Davidson leadnng the football team to glory and mdnrdual honors The homecoming king and queen Dick David son and eanne Esdale relgned over the tradr tional affair with elegance as the football season came to a close The paper drxve met with some of mother nature s tricks and operation snow shovel was born a very successful financial ven ture The proceeds from the coke machlne also swelled the growmg trlp fund along wlth bake sales a rummage sale the Turkey Trample and the magazine drlve in which the seniors went oyer the top The senlor play The Curious Savage caught the fancy of many It s comedy and farce well coached by Mr Rlchard was enjoyed by an enthuslastrc audience as being one of the outstand mg plays The Senior Prom was the hrgh note nn the sprmg white drnner jackets colorful formals and beautiful flowers contributing to the splendor of this important eyent Next came the senior trlp a three day crurse on the Great Lak s with sightseeing 1n Chxcago and Mackinac Island Followlng the trip was the tradltxonal Junior Senior Banquet Baccalaureate and Commencement We the class of 52 look back upon our years at E L H S wlth happiness and wish to thank you for the thmgs you have gnven us We ve crossed the bay the ocean hes before us. . . , . .'. , 4 Y , . . .
