SAGE Or: March 17th, 1952,the first sod was turned for the new East Kildonan Collegiate. The new building is to be called the Miles Mac- donell Collegiate in honour of Captain Miles Macdonell who brought the first group of Selkirk Settlers to the Red River to foim a colony in this vicinity.Ah essay giving full particulars -of this settlement is given in another part of this book. It is the hope of the people of the East Kildonan Community that pupils in all grades will be inspired to graduate from the new Collegiate.. The central location of the building will make it much more convenient for everyone in the district. The need for a high sohool education is becoming more apparent every day. The rapidly increasing population of Canada is making competition in the employment field more keen than ever before. This nev Collegiate is the answer of the East Kildonan people to the challenge for more education.
