J.V. Cheerleaders Dedicated This year was a good year for the J.V. Cheerleaders. The squad had many hard practices and work-outs, starting in the summer and not ending until all the games were over. They cheered the teams on through football and basketball, which took a full year of dedication. On November 6 the cheerleaders went to a Dynamic Cheerleading Association workshop at Central Michigan University. The competition went great, and they came back with many new ideas for their own cheers. The coach for the J.V. squad was Miss Beth Roetman, a graduate of East Kentwood. l5om Pon Kicks Up A Storm! This year the girls worked on doing some different, crowd pleasing things in their routines. They usually do two routines a game - at half time of the J.V. and Varsity games. They also do sidelines with the Pep Band bet- ween games. The Pom Pon Squad went to camp at Calvin College in August and took seconds in every event. They also attended the West Catholic Clinic where they took first place in speed learning and fourth place in Original Competi- tion. In Grandville Regional Com- petition they took sixth place overall. Captains for the Summer lfor camp routines and summer prac- tice schedulej were Karen Lauff and Holly Huber, for Football they were Brenda Baldwin and Shelly Woudstra, and for Basketball they were Brenda Kaiser and Kelly Estrada. fAj 1982-1983 Pom Pon girls.
