A C ' rql' i Q . D Concert Band The Concert Band is mostly composed of tenth graders. They performed at many concerts and did a fantastic job. The music that they produced captivated the whole audience. They performed at Mon- tage and Spring Concerts. BD Band Adds EXCitBl11Bl1Il The Pep Band was an exciting band that tried their best to get everyone into the spirit of the occasion. The special music they did really put some excitement into pep assemblies and various other sports activities, such as basketball and football games. Sym- nhonlc Band ut- ,X 1 standlne! This year's Symphonic Band under the direction of Mr. Don Druart was made up of outstan- ding musicians at East Kent- wood. They participated in the school concerts and festivals. At the District Band Festival the band received an overall rating of a ll. Orchestras Top Rated The Symphony Orchestra had several highlights this year in addi- tion to a busy concert schedule. In October they were the only District 10 orchestra to be invited to attend the District 11 String Festival at Western Michigan University. ln February they obtained their seventh consecutive first rating at the MSBOA District 10 Orchestra Festival. A number of the students received extra honors at the District and State Solo and Ensembles and at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival at Central Michigan University. In April they held their biggest concert of the year to celebrate the tenth anniver- sary of the orchestra program in the Kentwood Public Schools. The orchestra is directed by Mrs. D. Mitchell. The Concert Orchestra perform- ed for two concerts this year. Their first program was in December at the Christmas Concert where they performed with the Symphony Or- chestra.
