The Close-Up Club thls year went, as usual, on thelr annual trlp to Washington, D.C. This gave the students an opportunl- ty to have a close-up look at their government. On thelr trlp to Washlngton the students had a chance to meet senators, am- bassadors, and other natlonal news people. Thls group of students also shared thelr ex- perlence with other students from other states. To be able to go on thls trlp the students put ln many hours of hard work and tlme to earn money to pay thelr way. The students plcked up the football fleld, ran a maglc show, and also had donatlons. Thls club was a very reward- Ing experience to all who par- tlclpated. All the winners receive a small cash prize, and have their works featured in the writing magazine to be published in the spring. Many Enjoy Chess Club The Chess Club, sponsored by Mr. Mike Bacon, was re- established this year on request of Jon Bielicki and Tom Moses. The club has 12 active members who sponsored two chess tournaments. Tom Moses won and Ted Barnarski took se- cond place. The winner of the second tournament, Tom Moses, won S40 which club members raised by selling sub- marine sandwiches. Student Awareness Club The Student Awareness Club consisted of 20 active members. These members sponsored a talent show in which Shawn Tanis won a S50 first prize for his excellent per- formance on the piano. The club also put on a fashion show in which students from East Kentwood performed. CAD Ted Bonarski makes his move.
