They displayed their talent, creating a 4-2 conference record. The Varsity Debaters again proved their skill when they were one of 13 schools to qualify for the State Finals. There were four students who made the trip down to Kalamazoo Community College for the State Finals. They were Mike Palmer and Ted Bonarski, first and se- cond affirmative, and Herb Hodde and Torsten Toms, first and se- cond negative. Another accomplishment of the Debate team was their first place finish in the Wooden Shoe Tourna- ment. When asked about his feel- ings towards his team's suc- cesses, Young replied, These are major accomplishments, and whenever we can do something like this, we're very pleased. lAl The 1983 Debate Team lBl VARSITY DEBATERS: ltop to bottoml Ted Bonarski, Torsten Toms, Mike Palmer, and Herb Hodde.
