Us Ss Baseball in ot Finish The JV Baseball team was hurt by a slow start, but they came on with a vengeance in the last half of the season, winning eight of their last 11 games. Coach Larry Ike at- tributed this late peaking to the lack of a freshman team, which would give the JV's some season- ing, he feels. Says Ike, They were a hard-working club, and they never quit! He points out that there were several games with on- ly a one-run difference. The team ended up with a 6-7 league record and 10-8 overall. Chris Otto led the team with a .333 batting average and was followed by Chris Dukarski l.316l and freshman Dave Przybysz l.310l. Other good hitters included Jim Sommers and Tom Hussey, who credited Scrappy, their lucky bat, for their great stats. Ace pitcher was junior Scott Rowan l5-2l with a 1.51 ERA. He was supported by frosh pitchers Rick Ocharzak, Ryan Stambaugh, Brian Anderson and Steve Stewart. Sports 99

Baseball Champs Again This years' Varsity Baseball Team, coached by AI West ended the season with a record of 19-5. The team is once again the League Champs with a season of 12-2. This is their second year in a row to win the Conference Championship. The Falcons had three all- conference players choseng they were Mike Krohn, Mike West and Mark Weldy. The team voted Mark Weldy the Most Valuable player, and Bill Baumgartner and Jack Limbacher the Most Improved Players. WV I? I fc LY Girls' Track Fantastic! The racking up of firsts, seconds, and thirds by the Girls' Track Team put them on top of the conference for their 1983 season. Their conference championship consisted of seven wins and no losses. The champions were coached by Mike Dubois, Larry Vanderstelt, Terri Gilger, and Laura Verbrugge. Their team cap- tains were Jill Shaver, Bev Wolford, and Donna Andary. Not only did the female falcons win the O.K. Conference, but they took a few invitational titles, such as Wyoming Park Relays and West Ottawa Relays. Two girls from the team qualified for the State Finals. They were Jill Shaver and Kathy Thompson. Jill finished fifth in the mile, and ninth in the two-mile. Kathy finished 13th in the two-mile. When asked how he felt about the girls' season, Coach Dubois replied, Fantastic. QA, A fast start by the girls' distance runners. QBT The Girls' 1983 Track Team.
