V vulwfzbfua Jfzmhwwn 121003202 Ike Monroe Kline Carolyn Strlckler 'E' s Lyle H Stoner CLAQS OFFICER? th B 2' S Wht Ho hum lm sleepy After three months of yacatlon 1tS hard to get up early These were the words Wh1Ch a new sexenth grader spoke as he stifled a yawn whlle waltlng for the bus to take him to the high school Here comes the crackerbox ' rose a chorus of voices as a big orange school bus drove in sight The excited boys and glrls clambered aboard and long before they reached thelr d6St1 nation their sleeplness was replaced by mingled emotions of eager antlclpatlon and bewllderment During the first few days of school It was a common occurence to spy these verdant young sters wandering through the halls as if they were lost But as the term of 1937 38 wore on their greenness gradually disappeared and they began to adapt themselves to school rout1ne The big event of thls year was Polly Make Belleve pre sented by the 1un1or h gh and elementary schools on February 4 1938 The cast of the operetta in cluded eight members from the seventh grade It was thelr flrst effort 1n the fields of music and dramatics When the first day of school rolled around again the same students who last year as new comers had been frlghtened and befuddled now met the same sltuatlons with much more assur ance and DOISC They dellghted 1n maklng life mlserable for the new beginners by constant teas ing forgetting that only a year ago they had been iust as naive The weeks flew past swiftly and in no time another school term was over When September again showed 1tS face on the calender every one was anxious to get back 1nto the swing of school 21Ct1Vlt16S Many a sleepy boy or girl now burned the rnldnlght oil over a Latln story or some algebra problem Then too c1v1cs English and general SCIGHCG gave quite a few headaches But there was a brlghter side to the picture Many members of the freshman class took active part 1n sports music and other or ganlzations The St Patricks Day Party which the class sponsored was a most enloyable affalr However the arrival of June brought llttle re gret to the freshles for they were as ever looking ahead to next year wif Jfccenf on 901456 26 xc v , L . It's right for once because I just heard the period ba Well don t get excited about time and chips in John Palanko this year will soon a close work be at Very true said Kenneth Elchner and a good year it has been How well the Sophomores remember August 31 when one hundred of them passed through the portals of E H H S Early in September import ant instructions were given no paper on the floors lockers to be visited not more than three times daily and no parking in the halls During this month a certain few were 1n1t1ated into the Tr1H1Y Glee Club H1 Y and other groups Oc tober brought a Hallowe en party and box social given by the seniors This event was intended to raise money for the yearbook fund Many sopho mores attended and reported a good time N wember and Turkey Day' Three big cheers for P1 esident Roosevelts proclamation changing the date of Thanksgning Day' Three more for Gov ernor James acceptance of the change of dates It meant a longer vacatlon for students if not for teachers who had to attend institute With the end of January fast approaching bringing the semester to a close with exams sophomores kept flngers crossed Might the powers that be show mercy When a new semester was well on its way a radio with money obtained from skating parties held dullng the vear April and projects' Pro iects fox Latin prolects for biology prolects for English no end of prolectsl Thank goodness May would bling an end to it all' But there xx ould be no end of pleasant memories of happy, days George H Fretlw CLASQ Wxldx W Hyatt Dorothy Keller OFFICFRQ I- LL, WtR 25 ll.
