Subjects Influence 0 Mrs. Lininger, school nurse, shows senior home- making girls the proper way to bathe a baby. Three-and-one-halt-month-old Diane Griffin coos in enjoyment of everything. o Harold Getty is one of the seventy-six students participating in the co-op plan. His sales job at iowa Gas and Appliance Company includes clerical work and selling. 0 Harold Schlachtenhaufen and Sharon Baker, members of religious education class, are lighting the advent candles as part of the daily exercises before Christmas. 0 Dennis Erickson and Douglas Jamieson work at the tool and cutter grinder sharpening milling ma- chine cutters in the machine shop. 0 The boys in machine shop learn to measure pre- cisely, to run equipment similar to that in industry and to become skilled tradesmen by using the lathes.

Communication 0 Colleen Grundmeier, Ann Walters and Ken New- ton were East's three finalists in the Voice of De- mocracy contest. Ann achieved district honors and participated in state competition. 0 Jim Cook begins a letter to his friend Henry, who lives in France. Other French students locate Henry's home on the map. o Kathrine Madsen helps fellow college prep stu- dents Karen Ohler and Sharon Burke find material for their term papers in the magazine stacks at the public library. 0 Nathaniel Powell illustrates a point he is making in his discussion of Russian schools in American trends class. Other panel members are May Black, Carol Reedy and Jon Trost.

Leisure Hobbies o Art class students work on individual proiects using chalks, charcoal, paints and ink. 0 First semester drafting students are concerned with problems involving orthographic projection. 0 Vocational woodshop boys look at the cabinet they have just finished for Castle Hill School and table for the key-driven calculator machine in the business office. o The East High print shop puts out 1,836,601 press impressions.
