'Z' 'X' 4' if E' E03 El 5 +5 o 0' +4 EOBE' E035 -5 4-+4 ft Prophecy of the Class of 24 N old bachelor sat ln hrs study one evenmg before a blg open fire He was thxnklng back to hlS vounger davs when he had been such a good f frlend of all the Class of 24 As he sat there thlflklllg gimp' about bvgone days he began to wonder where and how JMAI i widely the members of the class had been scattered He was a wealthy retlred bllSlIlCSS man who was just looklng for some way to amuse hlmself He suddenly h1t upon the plan of a tour around the world to see how many of the class he mlght locate He plcked a speclal group of frlends to go w1th hlm and they started at Cm unn 1t1 'vlax 1 1040 Thls 15 h1s own storv as he told lt to me It had been some tlme slnce we had been ln LIIICIHIIHII so we declded to take 1n some places of lnterest there before we left We summoned a taxx and were lust about to tell the drlver to show us the places of lnterest when we lecognlzed hun as our old frlend I-alta We told h1n1 of our tr1p and he lnformed us that lf we would stav IH C1nc1nnat1 for a few days we mlght get to see Gov Iehr who was conung to town We explalned that we couldnt walt that long and started on our r1de As we passed East Hlgh he lnformed us that Blaktlx was now coach of East Highs Swunmlng Team whlle Al Beck had been selected as football coach for the comlng fall Through the buslness sec tlons of the suburbs we noticed several grocerv stores Wlth a blg slgn Bruckner Grocerv and Baklng Co He told us that these stores were taking the place of wood we saw that Schucts Blg Rlng Clrcus managed bx t X X M Searles was gettlng ready to QIVB a performance Prom the advertlsements we saw that Mabel Bangham was the L- blg attractlon greatest horseback rlder 1n the world I'he ballyhoo of the Slde show Sam Ludwlg called us to come 1n md see Relchert the fat man 'V NJ As we Sald good bye to Ifalta and went 1nto the sta Q tlon we heard the volce of the tra1n caller rlght behlnd us When we turned around whom should we flnd but Dwlght Brown Vte had a few mmutes to spare so we bought a newspaper and sat down to walt Iookmg through the advertlsements we saw a plcture of Rosa Straus wlth her halr hanglng around her shoulders Beneath the plcture were these words What Danderlne dld for mel On the front page of the paper was a blg artlcle about the wonderful dlscovery made bv James Long the great Amer xcan chemxst 3 We reached Washlngton wlthout galnlng any further knowledge Our first dav there we v1s1ted the Whlte House and found B1ll Roe golng around the back way to collect the Aff! ashes After that we went up to V1Slt the Senate and there was Grace Tauber Congresswoman froln New Mexlco talking as hard as she could to take up tune so that the Assembly could not vote on the Antl Clgarete Law She was called for fillbus terlng by M Gehlert presldent of the Senate In the audlence we saw Ray mond 1n the full dress unlform of a general of the Lnlted States Armv 64 id- 35 ' . 0 Q 0 S E if . w i A,..,.g-r .. - Ui- ' ' .Z .. Amongst these there were many who had risen to fame' Sir Stoner and Sir Hext assisted by Ladye Mary Currey who believed that ye pen is mightier than ye sword' Sir Oswald Diehl as fleet as ye deerg Sir John Darnall and Iadye Anabelle Feemster who edited ye bonnie Tiger and Sir Bozo Fverett who persisted in begging alms for ye organizations for which he held ye money bag being lord of ye exchequer. Many another merited applause for his diligence and good behaviour. So there came a warm June evening, twas Friday, the thirteenth On this night they received the emblems and prizes for their valour and persistence in their labors. E03 5 9 '!'+ 4 4- E E' E03 Eli HE P4 B E6- Ei E03 E03 5 E i 'f 4 r 4 1- E- 3 3 El El E E 4 'I' tl' We decided to go to New York by aeroplane When we asked to see the captain of the alrshlp Rutemlller came fy, 51 forward A picture show was given on board for our espe cial benefit The part of the vamp was played by Eleanor Martin After the picture show we got Station X Y Z on the radio and heard Burroughs announce that Anderson would read a paper on the Constitution of America We heard him read for a while and it reminded us of Mr Ralston s history classes We tuned out then and got Station O E D Destler was giving a piano solo A Jazz orchestra composed of Fulford Kerns Harris and Sloan plaved two or three numbers After this concert we started talking to a gentleman R Tekulve who we later discovered was from Scotland Yard He was looking for a man wno had fallen heir to a vast estate in Italy none other than Ernst Fischer Wal. Vlhen we arrived in New York it was too dark to do any sightseeing so we went to the Hippodrome and saw the Evans Girls and Shannon in a sketch and Marg Schmidt with Hen Eddy in a chalk talk Hormberg Mayor of New York was in the audience When the show was almost half over Henrietta we had some delicious pie The walter informed us that all the Bronx pies were bought from a small balxerv run bv M Merrill As we were leaving we picked up a copy of the Bronx News edited by Marv Curry Selma Fischer H Stoner C Adams 1' Martin and C Hext in which we saw an article about the visit ot the two Cabinet members M Huling and J Jeffries Down in the heart of the city we witnessed a mob scene where the base xabble stormed the offices of Harmon Anderson and Stalev Att vs at Iaw Next to these offices was a small but smart beauty parlor run by Catherine Marsh and Lx ma Peyton Bobbed Hair and Marcelling a Speclaltvl As we left New York we flew over New Jersey where we saw Anne Skinner and Flberta Llawson milking cows in a pasture. e A started our trip across the ocean' and as we crossed the 1 ' beach we saw Bill Look sitting there reading the Police 1 Gazette. Runt Donnelly was taking a dive from the ' highest tower on the beach and Bozo Everett jumped in , the water while we were watching. The bathers think- i1g he was a whale rushed out in a panic. W- . As we flew over the ocean we saw Phyllis Walker ' 'Q Tifilx '- about four miles out from shore taking a swim. Findley A 'Shu Brooke was standing on a box in mid-ocean peddling patent hair tonic. W ,S passed Ed. Rippey suspended in mid-air by a balloon on the bot- tom of which was an advertisement for the Paris Fern Shoe tde- 'Q A signed by F. Widmanl He was dressed in a policeman s regalia K f directing traffic. Skeels, Bye, Watkins and Craig were carrying on ' a game of chance on a sinking boat As we were looking through our spy glasses, we saw that Skeels was winning every- thing. lust then the boat capsized and it was said that Cecil Bye made a great hit with the mermaids. Toward evening we went into the diner on the aeroplane where C. Molloy and H. Meyer waited on us. We paid our checks to Gertrude Krieger, cashier. Miss Krieger told us that until recently M. Teeters had been receiving radio messages on the ship.
