McKeIvey Mr. McKe1vey is completing his ninth year as superintendent of the Portsmouth School system, During his tenure of office, the Portsmouth City School system has continued to improve. Our school board and Mr. McKe1vey have worked together to create a 6-3-3 system in our city schools. Mr. McKe1vey received his A.B. degree from Ohio University and his M.A. from Ohio State University. ei. Mr T W Smith Prlnclpal Mr T W Smith IS completing his 17th year as principal of East High Next year he will assume the role of principal of East Junior High Mr Sm1th's tenure as princr pal of East has had a tempestuous history He was head of East during the war years and the readjustment period following The consolida tion of the two local high schools has been Mr Sm1th's most recent problem Many parents of present East students sat under the teach mg of Mr Smith He IS greatly admired by the students and faculty for his constant efforts the field of scholarship Mr Smith is very interested in the students of his school and rs al ways prepared to counsel them their curricular problems and to aid them in selecting courses which will benefit them in the future He also serves in the capacity of advisor to the Student Council An Ohio University graduate with theA B degree Mr Smith re cerved his M A degree from the University of Cincmnati Ray Thompson Attendance Officer The cloak-and-dagger man around the school is Ray Thompson who in his official capacity as attendance officer tracks down those foolhardy souls whose names are found on the truant list. This is Ray s second year at this o . His spare time Qwhen he has itj is taken up by his wife Patty and their three children. Ray attended Cedar- ville College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.
