DEDICATION Miss Warus began her teaching career at East High School in 1967, and ever since, she has been one of the most enthusiastic promoters and supporters of East activities. At East, she has taught Latin, French, English and Journalism. An Erie native, Miss Warus attended St. Casimir Elementary School. Then, she went to Villa Maria High School where she graduated in 1963. Not finished with her formal education, she enrolled at Villa Maria College and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1967. It is this year that she became a “warrior” when her teaching career began at East. To enhance her personal and professional skills in teaching, Miss Warus enrolled at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where she was awarded a Master’s Degree for her work. Of course, her first love of teaching is the romance languages, French and Latin, where countless students have benefited from her expertise in her classes. It is because of this love of language that she is a member of the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association. During her years at East, her “pet project” was, of course, our Sunrise. For sixteen years, she and her staffs produced excellent yearbooks, many earning state honors in yearbook competition. For these sixteen years of personal and professional committment in making the yearbook an exciting and rewarding endeavor, the Sunrise staff dedicates with great admiration and respect, the 1985 edition of the Sunrise to our former advisor, Miss Lucille Warus. 9
