Dedication Deeds, not words may well be the motto associated with this East High School faculty member who for the past twenty-three years has been an outstanding example of the citizenship and leadership qualities emphasized in his social studies classes. A graduate of East High School and of Edinboro State College with a major in social studies and a minor in geography, he has taken additional studies leading to a master’s degree at Edinboro State College. Gannon University, Western Michigan University and Wilkes College. His teaching career has included a wide variety of social studies courses including civics, urban geography, citizenship education, world cultures, sociology and American history. He has demonstrated his leadership qualities and expertise in other communities on three separate occasions when he participated on the Middle States evaluating teams. At one time a member of the East High football team, this faculty member has coached varsity football, was faculty manager of the wrestling team, and coached the boys’ tennis team for fifteen years. In addition he was mentor of the Geography Club and adviser to the Ski Club for several seasons. For several years he has coordinated the assemblies and activities connected with Black History and Brotherhood Week. Furthermore, for a period of seven summers, he has worked with the GECAC program in positions such as counselor, supervisor and summer coordinator. A member of the EEA, PSEA. and NEA, he also lists membership in the American Legion Post 200 and in Catholic Charities. In recognition of his personal example of the qualities of outstanding leadership and community-oriented service, his embodiment of success that is the spirit of East High School and his dedication and professionalism in teaching thousands of East High students on the junior and senior high school levels, the yearbook staff proudly dedicates the 1983 Sunrise to our highly esteemed faculty member.
