Introduction As we begin a new decade, we anticipate the many opportunities available to the graduates of 1980. We are eager to enter the world of work or study with the diverse challenges they offer. Hopefully, our preparation in this land's finest school will be a stepping stone to continued success in our chosen fields of endeavor. Throughout our stay at East, our dear school song has meant many things to us as it touched on different facets of our life at East High. It provided a spirited motivation to produce our best efforts academically. It rallied us to demonstrate our athletic ability and good sportsmanship. It gave us a feeling of unity as we participated in our many extracurricular activities and functions. It is this proud spirit epitomized in the words of our school song that has most definitely characterized our years as members of the East High student body. So it is with pride that the Sunrise Staff has chosen the spirit of East High as it is reflected in the words of the Alma Mater as the theme for the 1980 Sunrise. EAST HIGH ALMA MATER You may search through the whole wide country Ev’ry city ev’ry state. From the northland to the southland Of our union strong and great. You will find no school that’s finer Measure by what test you may. And it's our own school, our dear East High We hail with pride today. Then to East High our Alma Mater Do we pledge loyal hearts and true. May we e'er keep thy dear name unspoiled And thy colors unsullied, too. May the Scarlet and Gray float o’er us Lead us onward from day to day Then give three cheers for our East High Rah! Rah! Rah! Three cheers for the Scarlet and Gray.
